HQ: Epistolary w/ Term Honors, bolt pistol or CCW either or, Adamantine Mantle, Fury and Fear Troops: 6man Tactical w/ Plasma Cannon 5man Tactical w/ Plasma Cannon Elites: 2x Venerable Dread w/ Assault Cannon and missle launcher, Tank Hunter Heavy Support: 3x Dread w/ Assault Cannon and missle launcher Fast Attack: 3x 3 Landspeeder Tornados w/ Heavy Bolter and Assault Cannon 1750pts. Traits would be Heed the Wisdom of the Ancients + a minor drawback doesnt really matter which.

Pros: Impressive firepower. Reasonably good number of claiming squads. Heavy weapons are mostly mobile.
Cons: Lib's too expensive for someone who's just going to be sitting there. Lanspeeders that get stunned will make the whole squadron sit around doing nothing. The whole thing is weak vs. assualt, and relies very heavily on assualt cannons (which will draw cries of cheeze). Slow except for the speeders.
Several squads of basic tacs w/lascannons will probably own this list. They'll lascannon down the dreads, and bolter the speeders. I may be biased, but BA would probably be your worst fights.

blood angels, drop the mantle on the lib its too many points, give him an invul save instead(like a combat shield) this list would be better off podding, change the tornaodes to 3 squadrons of one and with the left over points buy some marines maybe an assault squad, increase the number of tacticals add some sniper scouts, something this list has little staying power at that many points

Plasma cannons are on of those things that looks good on paper, but really aren't all that great in reality. Most players will spread out their squads, and you'll get a hit a maybe two partials most times. One or two plasma cannons is alright, for when those DSing termies come in, but I'd rather make them las/plas squads.
The libby wasn't a bad idea, especially with the new psychic eldar, but in a static army like this he doesn't need to be totally blinged out either. Try making him an epistolary and upgrading his Storm to Fury. Don't bother buying a second power, it probably won't be worth it. Give him a bolt pistol, frags, and a combat shield and stick him in a squad. If you keep the captain, try at least giving him a power weapon. He's not really much better than a sgt right now.
You might try dropping at least one squad to bulk up the others and add a special weapon to each. I'd have at least one squad with a power fist, otherwise the first dread or MC that makes it into CC will plaster them.

Second Mnemoch on plasma cannons. Some people have luck with them as a psychological weapon, but a plain old lascannon and plasma gun works better 99% of the time.
BTW, you can drop the Tank Hunters and use those points towards Vennieing up the HS Dreads.
This is very similar to a list Augustus posted ages ago. I think it is strictly an improvement as he included a Techmarine as HQ as what he termed a concession to fluff - you could try PMing him I suppose if he doesn't chime in at some point.

Im more worried about the dreads having no decent close combat capabilities. Even if just your Ven dreads had a heavy flamer and a close combat weapon, it would be better then nothing. Missles are good but they are not that good. I agree with the earlier posts, you will be owned by anybody with close combat capabilities.

Ok heres a pretty much final revision, i believe this army will be GT competetive without being cheesy and definitly not too carbon copy of other armies. HQ Epistolary w/ Term Honors, jump pack, mastercrafted force weapon, combat shield, bolt pistol and frags (no 2nd power Troops 2x 6man Tactical squad w/ plasma gun, Las cannon 2x 6man Tactical squad w/ plasma gun, plasma cannon Elites Ven Dread w/ missle launcher upgrade, tank hunter, xtra armor Ven Dread w/ missle launcher upgrade, tank hunter, searchlight 8man assault squad w/ 2 pp's, Sarge has Term Honors, pp and pw Fast Attack 3x 2 landspeeder 'nados w/ assault cannon and heavy bolter Heavy Dread w/ missle launcher upgrade, searchlight 1750pts

Isn't the assault squad fast attack? There's a trait that lets you take them as elite, but only when they've got furious charge. What are your traits/drawbacks again? Also, you're sticking with the plasma cannons when everyone and his dog have told you to get rid of them in favor of the more popular and effective las cannon. What do you think they will do, hose down a squad of DSing termies? If so, why do you have plasma guns in your line squads? Also: why MLs on the dreads? You'll have plenty of AT by adding those las cannons and with the points saved, you can buy the librarian a second power, which he really does need. cheers

Having one plasma cannon isn't a bad idea. It keeps your opponent from bunching his troops up. If you don't have any good template weapons your opponent has way more deployment options.

I like the list. It is not the standard Marine fare one sees everyday. I'm up in the air about 1 or 2 Plasma Cannons. Deep Strike is pretty common these days and good lanes of fire can help you eat up an expensive unit. For that reason alone, I'd definitely field one. The 2nd is personal preference.
What is your Dreads main weapon? I assume Assault Cannons, but not too sure. If they are, I'd look at getting one or two of them upgraded to twin link las cannons. This would give the dread two 48" guns so could be used as good long range fire support.
Why a Combat Shield on the Librarian? Is it sorely for point savings?
It looks like a fun list to play against. I'm not sure what this year's GT enviornment is going to be like, but I'm expecting some armies to be a bit more ramped up than years' past.

I like this list. You're right, it is not a carbon copy of other armies.
I've never been to something like a GT, so I wonder how many termie heavy marines armies you'll be facing. If the number of those armies there is ANYTHING close to the number of lists that are posted on Dakka and Warseer, ect. then a plasma cannon or two will serve you well. The only thing I worry about is with only 1-2 of them smart players might be able to hide 5 man termie units behind pods.
Is there any way you could shave some points to make the third dread venerable? In my experience there is not a great deal of difference in survivability between one ven dred and one dread, but there is a big difference between three dreads and three ven dreads. Also, extra armor can be pretty nice on them too. It keeps them moving so they can hide behind cover when they can't shoot or they charge into assault if they have to.
All in all, a list i would enjoy playing with or against!
