It's pretty straight forward as lists go. The marines are fairly suicidish. They come down an dtry to hit things with the plasma as well as add bits of pod terrain as well as possible grabbing objectives. The termies come down and shoot. The pods just act as cover. The assault marines target specific threats. Plasma for 2+ saves nd flamers for hordes.

Do you think this is viable? There are only 8 scoring units. Would it be  abetter list if I dropped 1 assault squad and added 2 more podding tac squads? Oh, and the scouts are there just as a nod to fluff...and I have a sweet bit of modeling that I am gonna do.

I appreciate any help you can give before I go and start buying some more figs.

Thanks,

I think that the consensus on pods is all or nothing. As it stands, half of your scoring units will be off the table until turn 2/3. In missions that allow deep strike, you'll be ok (assuming that you want to drop your assault squads in...which is questionable) and you're scouts can hide somewhere. But really, I think you'd be better off with a standard 6 man las/plas core with HQ and elite termie assault cannon goodness with an assault squad or two to taste. As is, this is a close range fire fight type army with a lot of points in a close combat element. My advice is to split your points 65/35 shooty/assault. As is, you've got it the other way around. Also, one squad of termies acompanying a fear/fury libby may be the best way to go.

Your advice is exactly correct. That is kinda why I want to ignore it. I think my hidden agenda is to go against the grain of the standard termie heavy list. It has just gotten a bit boring....

I don't think the assault marines would deep strike. Risky and they can't charge. i would rather advance them and take the round 1 of firing and get the turn 2 assault.

I wonder... does a non-trait, not codex specific assault force stand a chance at all? Are 24 asault marines not enough to get the job done when backed up a nasty chaplain?
