Can Aspiring champions in LatD take vet skills if they are the leaders of mutants or traitors?  Page 74 of the main rule book isnt very clear since it specifically talks about independant characters.  Your thoughts?

Page 74 of the BBB says nothing about Vet Skills. It refers to Independent Characters joining units that use Universal Special Rules and whether the IC gains or loses USR. Codex Chaos Space Marines does talk about Vet Skills, and says on page 12 an IC that has a skill and joins a unit that does not have that skill loses the ability to use it.

CSM AC in a LatD army are not IC as they must be attached to a squad and cannot leave it therefore both sections are irrelevant from a RAW standpoint. In normal use the AC is a squad upgrade and gets all the skills and attributes of the squad he is upgraded FROM and has to pay all the appropriate points for skills and such.

Thanks for adding nothing but more confusion. Page 74 mentions special rules which actually contain some of the vet skills.

You can take Vet Skills... you just can't use them unless the squad the AC is bought for has them also. Clear enough?

Morticus: Thanks, it is clear now.

Kult: Special movement modes are lost if the squad attached does not also have them. Do the incubi have fleet of foot?

Nope. 'fraid not.

Codex CSM, page 12, 'Veteran Skills' , second paragraph. All models in the unit, including any attached characters, have to have the same skills.

The unit moves as a unit. So long as the characters are joined to the unit, the entire unit moves at the same pace... which is as fast as the slowest model moves.

If everybody has combat drugs, the unit can use them to move faster. If one model doesn't have them, the entire unit must move at the same speed as that model.
