Just to bring back an old thread. Here are some pics of the Gundam Hover Truck that will be released in 1/35 scale at the end of this month.

I love the design and will be using it as the basis of a conversion for my Tau human allies.

Holy carp that thing looks cool! I'm not a fan of the way they have imaged the hoverdrive, but those parts look great for some weird Argus Flyer conversions, while some bits of plasticard, tubing and Wave Option parts can turn the the chassis into a more GW-ized grav-tank look. Wow.

Hoho

Yes the assualt cannon is great. Burst cannon ahoy!

I know what you mean narly about the hover drive. I like it from the side and front but not from below (its a bit back to the future). I think though with some work it has great potential for so many things.

Its not even that expensive, only 22 UK pounds. It also comes with 5 different 1/35 scale figures and scenery and weapons and ammo (belts of ammo for the cannon on top and some great open ammo cases).

What the pointy thing that sticks out from the side? Is it a hover compass?

Do they still have the small scout cars, The version of this truck with the crane, or the other one that the gundam was able to lay down on ( Might have been a trailer, i'm not really sure.)

This is very cool! Is there an address for the price?

In the series it was used to measure ground vibrations Similar to Sonar.

The reason being that in the UC Gundam universe they had come up with an effectiv way to keep radar and most other froms of scanning from working.

Not sure how big it really is but it could be used as a higher tech Gorgon type transport as well for IG.

Really nice vehicle, and not to expensive
5500Â¥ ($45) according to http://bandai-hobby.net/english/item.html

Way to big (SuperHeavy Vehicle?) for my taste, though.

Would be hard to deploy on surface
- might become a cool IG Thunderhawk-ish flyer, though (after a LOT of work).

This vehicle is big, definately Super Heavy size.

Originally I had planned to use it as a devilfish but when i saw a size comparison to a Tamiya 1/35 WW2 Tank I forgot that idea. I'll be modelling it around a Orca Variant.

I've preordered one from HLJ ages ago, when it arrives I'll post the pics of the sprue, some 40 k size comparrions (super heavy FW tanks and standard Plastics) and make up a WIP blog of the conversion.

Anyone know of a US distributer?

Hi tanker

I know that Hobby Link Japan ship to the US, but you might want to try Bigbadtoystore.com as well. They are based in America and often stock all of the Gundam master grade and Fix figuration models that they sell in HLJ.

Do they make a smaller non-1/72 scale Hover Truck?

They only have 1/100 1/72 and 1/35 at present. Sadly no 1/48 (which is closer to GW scale).

They are all listed on Hobby Link Japan if you go to the search section

A new day, a new time zone.

I see definite possibilities for a Gorgon Conversion. I'm definitely going to head over to the local Joshin store and see if they have it in stock.

Imho you should put an armor top enclosed the turrect or make it a CROWS, to protect the gunner.

22 pounds sterling... maybe about 30 dollars?

Wouldn't that be closer to 40 dollars? I sent it through CoinMill.com currency converter and got $43.14. So the Pound is now worth more the $2 dollars. I just hope that the Dollar can stay the almost global standard for currancy or that would be a BIG hurt on the US trade market.

A new day, a new time zone.

So does anyone have a good idea what this could be used for? My local store has a few. It'd made a good gorgon conversion, but I don't really like the Gorgon rules.

It's massively huge, hence Gabe's Gorgon comment. In other words, a wee bit large for a Chimera/Salamander.

Gabe- why not VDR it up as something else? Even as some Gorgon hybrid or Tau Human Axillary transporter. Speaking of this kit, I need to see if my local hobby shop has one of these...

Well mine arrived in the post last week and it is massive.

I'm going to post pics soon for size comparisson.

I'm currently working on my Shadowsword and its actually bigger than that!

Width wise its slimmer than an Imperial Super heavy but its longer by a little bit.

Definately this can't be a Salamander scout. Gorgon could work as could a baneblade type conversion.

Personally I'm going to model a Tau Human ally Orca around it, since its roughly that size is armed right and has a large troop holding space at the back.

Its all plastic and has some really nice details and features. The ammo belts that feed into the turret mounted mini gun are particularly nice.

Once my Shadowsword is finished I'll crack into this kit and post a blog. It also has a lot of fully movable parts!

I'm not sure the model is great so much as the painting. It's a very nice execution of weathering, mud, etc. Very realistic, and really works well with the style of detail on the truck.

It's rare to see a GW model painted with the sort of realistic weathering that the military tank modellers produce. This truck is painted much more in that style.

Its defiantely a great kit. Its not just the painting, theres a lot of detail and a lot of work has gone into the design process. You really feel and see it when you look at the sprue.

Its had the same ethic of attention to detail and mechanical realism as a serious 1:35 military kit.

Personally I found the paint job on these pics a bit bland actually!

Will post sprue photos this weekend, along with comparissons to Tau skimmers, Imperial tanks, and a super heavy.
