=1000pts I'm not a very competitive player and im also quite new to the game, but i thought changing the normal kroot troops to snipers would give my army a bit of shootin' power, and i get 6 berzerkers, which im using for protecting my lieutenant, which would have been the job of one of the berzerker squads, which is now free to roam the fields. Thoughts, fixes, flaming the **** out of me, helping a new guy, etc all very welcome.

  • MM, because you did not wait long enough... And sometimes it takes a while to respond...

My 2 cents is that this list is not very good. It has no real tankbusting at range.
The dreads (I would prefer 1 upgraded btw) should have a lascannon. Better would be a predator annihalator with lascannon and heavy bolters, possibly 2 of these.

Furthermore drop the kroot. They are pointless. Shooting doesn't do enough in small amounts and for combat you habve enough monsters. Make the unit of 6 berserkers 8 an take 2 more bloodletters. Extra points can go toward talismans of the burning blood. Wich means more frezys and covering ground faster. (every unit should have a talisman)

any leftover point can go in gifts for the LT...

    The list would be:
  • LT
  • Berserkers A (7 + champ)
  • Berserkers B (7 + champ)
  • Berserkers C (7 + champ
  • Bloodletters (8)
  • Pred annihalator
  • Pred annihalator

Maybe drop the second pred and go for PF on squads and perhaps furious charge on a squad...

    Good hunting

Agreed on Kroot being out of place. They're an interesting fun choice when you've got the points, but you don't got the points @ 1000. I disagree on the dreads though - not only are they solid modeling opporunities, but also go very nicely with the look and feel of a World Eater army. BIG nutters to rampage with smaller nutters.

Here's my list:

HQ

Lt - MoK, 2 lightning claws = 85

Troops

8 Berzerkers - 7 axes, AC w/ powerfist, talisman of burning blood = 179
8 Berzerkers - 7 axes, AC w/ axe, talisman of burning blood = 165
8 Berzerkers - 7 axes, AC w/ axe, talisman of burning blood = 165
6 Bloodletters = 156

Heavy Support

Dread - Twin-lascannon = 125
Dread - Twin-lascannon = 125

Total
1000 points
31 + 2 dreads

This keeps most of the models you included, with some weapon upgrades. The TBB is going to help you out a LOT, and that one powerfist is going to be priceless against big nasties out there - carnifex, demon princes, etc, etc. I ran out of points toward the end, so your Lt. is super light on kit. He's got 2 claws because both you and your friend seem to like them, otherwise his kit could be tweaked a bit.

Good luck, hope this helps, now go kill stuff with those twin dreads of doom!

I'm not a very competitive player and im also quite new to the game ...

Here are some thoughts on tactics, specifically with the list I posted above.  Mind you, these won't be mindblowing, as I'm no brilliant tactician and these are World Eaters after all, but maybe they'll help.  Unit by unit:

Lt. - Deploys with a non-fisty berzerker squad, and should be used to neutralize other high iniative threats, or just generally slaughter marines and such.  Don't run him along by himself, he'll just be krak-bait then.

Berzerker squads - You should probably deploy as far forward as possible, unless plentiful cover means you'll be able to have these boys huge cover before charging like mad into the soft, squishy enemy.  TBB means you're likely to blood rage, which gives you a first turn move of 7-12" (and a first turn charge of 13-18" , and likely second turn charges with whatever lives.  The powerfist squad should be deployed with a mind toward maximizing the useful killiness of its fist - so toward big things, or where you can expect the big things to hit.  One of the other 2 squads will have the Lt. and should be intended to move toward enemy characters, or masses of troops, or whatever needs to die.  The last squad is far from useless - 33 S4 attaks on the charge! - but keep in mind where the demons are coming in ...

Bloodletters - Your ace in the hole, these guys are liquid death.  Plan on sending them off of berzerker squads 2 & 3 above.

Dreads - Up to you really, which adds to the appeal of dreads.  More than likely, deploy them behind what cover you can, so you can walk out and get a good shot in at enemy armor first turn.  From there, either advance and shoot armor, with an eye toward eventually hitting combat, or hang back and shoot whatever targets need it.  Fire frenzy and blood rage mean your best laid plans might need to change, but that's part of the fun.  Sure, these guys are going to suck anti-tank fire, but that's less krak & lascannon to smash your berzerkers in the turn before they hit combat.

Luck, and blood.
