I have a very simple question.

In a 2000 point game would 2 brood lords and say 90 genestealers with carapace armor work?

It offers lots of bodies and alot of rending attacks.

Views?

Thanks

Arent broodlords 0-1?

You would need some kind of anti vehicle guns, or you risk getting nailed by fast vehicles you cant catch.

Seconds hotflungwok. Genestealer heavy was seen earlier in 4th as THE strongest Tyranid build. You definitely want a brace of Gunfexes - 326 points even. Broodlords are 0-1, conveniently stealers have Brood Telepathy and LD10, thus making a low synapse army far from the disaster it would be with, say, hormagaunts. You could try scuttlers - though it can't save you from getting double-tapped, it will get your line another turn's movement closer to your opponent as well as allowing you to see NME deployment prior to putting most of your army on the table. Pretty much it is a simple inversion of Godzilla - 2 TMCs and 6 broods of stealers as opposed to 6+ TMCs and 2 broods of stealers.

When soldiers think, it's called routing.

Wight widow?s on the money. A couple of shooty fexes (or even a flyrant) are very helpful for taking down enemy vehicles. I think scuttlers are more worthwhile than carapace. Being a turn closer makes a big difference.

I ran a similiar list and the biggest problem I had was against list with 3 Tornados which in my area seemed to be every list. Tornados have the mobility to own you with all those AP 4 shots.

It definitely can work, but not with Broodlords (they're 0-1 anyway).

Take a single flying Tyrant and 3 Gunfexes for support (especially against Landspeeders). Fill the rest of the force out with scuttling stealers (also with carapace).

If your league/tournament allows it, also consider taking FW meiotic spores. They are great in forcing your opponent to spread out and not huddle in the back corner of their deployment zone (along with the Gunfexes Barbed Strangler shots).

If things go right you should be in combat on turn 2 and have wiped out the enemy by turn 4.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Sounds like you want a genestealer cult list, as you have nothing else in your list. The only way to do this is to take allies.

Have a % of your total points genestealers with the broodlord, and the remaining % Imperial Guard. You need space for the mandatory 2 Troops and 1HQ covered. This will get you a proper genestealer list and you shouldnt have problems with the army being accepted in non tournament games.

If you want a list to win then an all eggs in one basket genestealer army is not a way to go. the basic addage applies: Overspecialise and you build in weakness.
So:

1. Get the carnies everyone talks about. You need them.

2. Buy hormagaunts. genestealers on their own dont make it, gaunts on their own don't punch through. Stealers and gaunts together are LETHAL.

The real problem with stealkers on their own is that the enemy gets to double tap twice (not once as it looks on paper). As you get within charge range for next trurn the enemy moves to near enough 12" from you and the closest squads double tap, and bacxuse the range of double tap is 12" you can only take stealers from thje front, not the rear as normal. Normally after everyone has double tapped you have no stealers left within 12". So you cant charge next turn, just move more into double tap range.
This is why you will have problems with guard and Tau, even with carapace. Hormagaunts have 18" charge and so cut out all these shenanigans, you dont get double tapped at all (ideally). The stealers follow up behind a close combat and arrive without the heawvy casualties.

You lose a third of your genestealers to end up with as many gaunts as stealers ( a good ratio). But you will get more net stealers through into combat this way.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
