It's an expensive kit, but here's what you get for participating
in the league. I'm not quite sure how it works, but I believe you
get a corner of the path for each league season you participate
in. So tihs winter is No Man's Land (I believe), so you'd get
that portion of the patch.

Not this year.  PP feels that HORDES isn't to the point where it's ready to compete with WARMACHINE on that level, yet.  The scenarios also haven't been playtested for HORDES.

Next year's league season will include HORDES.

Each player who participates in any season will get the center patch (the jackhead).  After that, players will recieve a patch for participating in each subsiquent season starting with the top left (winter season) and moving around the circle, clockwise.  There are also pins that will be awarded to the top player, the player who plays the most games, the top team and the player who gets the most faction bounties.

Oh man, everytime I see sticker and patches like this I can't help but think what a huge nerd brand it is.

I mean just because I like painting and playing with toy soldiers doesn't mean I want to flaunt it! :-)

Walking into a game store and proceeding to unload your box of coveted minatures, pretty much brands you as a nerd.  I doubt that adding patches to that equation changes thoutcome significantly.  Personally, i NEED to get all these, and they will be place on my army transport.

Privateer Press has the best Prize support of all the games, i dont know why i want the patches, but i have just have to have them.

The badges don't motivate me to play in the league at all. I also don't like that they mandate a weekly game environment. I'd rather they give it 10 weeks for a round, and not mandate how often you play, just that you get 6 "games" in.

I want cog tags! I'll sew them on my denim jacket with my RATT and Quiet Riot pins!

You're not "mandated" to have a weekly game environment.  PP has always had 6 weeks as their layout for leagues.  All you have to do to get the patches is play one game within the timeframe .  You just wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of winninig anything else.  The whole point of the patches is to use them as a "badge of honor" saying that you participated in the first official league season for WARMACHINE. 

There's also nothing stopping FLGS owners from adding additional prize support.  These are simply the official prizes.  The pins, and bragging rights, are what you're supposed to be working to win.  Basically, you get the patches for nothing, and the pins for winning.

Only if you have a cool back-patch for the jacket as well. Of course it has to be a band with a bunch of hot chics in it.

Does PP make back patches? Or should I just perform a hair transplant?

I recommend a mullet transplant. There are many donors in japan, as they seem to be the rage there right now.
