Hey, im new here and I was wondering if you guys could help me out with my Tyranids. Im planning to go to conflict and want a good army.

Well, here it is:

Broodlord with Extended Carapace and Toxin Sacs - 90 pts

8 Genestealers (retinue) - 128 pts

14 Hormagaunts - 140 pts

14 Hormagaunts - 140 pts

2 Zoanthropes, both with Warp Blast and Synapse Creature - 130 pts

Carnifex with two Twin-linked Devourers, Enhanced Senses and Spinebanks - 118 pts

Total - 748 pts

So what do you guys think?

I would probably take 2 units of 14 spinegaunts (5 pts a piece) and a unit of hhormies, or maybe nog hormies and 4 x 14 spinegaunts. The opponent then has a lot to worry about, because they are with so many.

I would also drop a zoantrhrope in favor of upgrading the fex to a gunfex, but that could just be me... (gunfex is 183 pts for a 5 wound T7 creature with a S8 blast and 2 S10 VC shots. That all with a BS of 3 will make sure it will hot often enough. no need for the devourerd then.

Thanks for the help, but i dont have enough gaunts to have 4 squads of 14, and all of the ones i have are assembled as termagants.

This army was built with the models i actually have, and im not too keen in buying more gaunts

1 Carnifex (unassemled)

9 Warriors

2 Zoanthropes

1 Broodlord

24 genestealers

1 biovore

32 termagants

32 hormagaunts

1 hive tryant

2 tyrant guard

and a few ripper swarms

any more ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I think I would go for this:
- a gunfex 183
- 3 warriors (leaping, scytals, rending, extended) 112 (I believe) (use 1 or both as HQ)
- 3 warriors (leaping, scytals, rending, extended) 112 (I believe) (use 1 or both as HQ)
- 12 Hormogaunts 120
- 12 hormogaunts 120
- 10 hormogaunts 100

Total: 747

This gives a reasonable fast army, with tank-killing power (rending claws and gunfex) and a lot of attacks on charge (34 gaunts, over 2, might be able to drop 2 and take some extra's on the warriors)

Just a tought..

For the points this is not a bad list. The glaring weakness that I see is ranged firepower which is hard to balance because of the points limit. Tornadoes and skimmers in general will give you a fit. Good list overall at 750pts.

Thanks for the tips guys, i'll try out that army and see how it goes.

If I have leaping warrirors, will i need to model them as if they were running/leaping? cos i already put them together.....

or does anyone have a secret to taking models apart without breaking them?

You could just leave them standing and make it look like they use their claws to sling into combat.

I positioned mine so they would look like they are jumping into battle. they are to heavy, but this is more or less compensated bij having the scytals touch the ground...
Most of the times if all your warriors have it then an opponent will not cry about it. For the tournament it might require some explaining, but you can probably get away with it (WYSIWYG is hard for leap, just look at the hormies....They do not look that special...)

Conflict is WYSIWYG so i dont know if i'll be able to get away with leaping warriors that dont look like theyre leaping...

Are there any easy ways of converting leaping warrirors?

The Hammer

Standard-issue gunfex at 163 (5W, BS4, strangler, cannon) is probably the best bet if you've only got the one carnifex.

How have you assembled the warriors? At 117 each, broods of four each with BS2, S4, I5, 4+ save, three with twin-linked devourer and one with venom cannon and talons could be useful in a 750 point game. +35 for +1 S, +8 for +1 BS. Give you another unit to deal with to help deal with light vehicles and herd Gaunts. BS2 S3 on the devourer looks more like BS4 S5 after rerolls versus MEQs. Warriors should always get I5 IMHO.

You can get a flyrant at 131 points for the basic statsline, wings and two sets of talons. Alternatively, the twin deathspitter make would be pretty lethal but possibly a little expensive for 750, as well as making himself a probable target.

One alternative army configuration idea that comes to me is to take three units of six scouting genestealers with carapace and possibly flesh hooks, the el cheapo flyrant configuration and the 163 point gunfex. Little synapse to worry about, a bit of covering fire, and some strong melee units with the means to get them into combat. (scout)

When soldiers think, it's called routing.

Hive Tyrant - 162 pts
 - Wings
 - 2 scytals
 - Adrenal glands (both)
 - Toxin sacs

6 Genestealers - 138 pts
 - Extended Carapace
 - Scuttlers

6 Genestealers - 138 pts
 - Extended Carapace
 - Scuttlers

6 Genestealers - 138 pts
 - Extended Carapace
 - Scuttlers

Carnifex - 163 pts
 - Venom cannon
 - Barbed Strangler
 - Enhanced Senses
 - Reinforced chitin

And 11 pts left over. Was thinkkin of givin the flyrant psychic scream.

What do you guys think of this 1?

And thanks for the tips wight widow, this army is pretty much based around what you suggested.
