Here is my 1000 pts shooty nidz list.. I don't want to outshoot my opponent, but I just want a reign of fire before I assault. The Raveners, genestealers and Hive Tyrant are in my oppinion perfectly capable of crushing an enemy unit in close combat.  What do you guys think?

Between a rock and a hard place

Never, ever, take the Deathspitter. The new blast rules are awful. Take Devourers on your Warriors, and a Venom Cannon on your Fex.

Actually, I'd drop the Warriors. 3 will die very quickly. Your Tyrant is formidable in assault, but moving 6" a turn, it will be lucky if it gets one charge in. Drop the guard, make it a Flyrant instead (lose the venom cannon in this case).

Use the points from the Warriors and guard to buy some Zoanthropes with synapse and warp blast, and if you can, more troops, go witha nother Genestealer squad.

How is that a "shooty" army? Because it has 4 units that can shoot (and not very well at that)?

That army will not be able to outshoot any army in the game (except for some wierd all CC army you might face).

The best shooters in a bug army are Hive Tyrants, Carnifexes & Zoanthropes. Warriors and Gauns are sup-par at best.

That's why a standard "shooty" bug army is the same thing as a Godzilla list (because Carnifexes are your best shooting option).

An Elite Carnifex with x2 TL Devourers will outshoot a comparable cost of Tyranid Warriors any day of the week, and is a much tougher unit to kill as well.

Your Heavy Support Carnifexes should definitely be given a Venom Cannon and a Barbed Strangler.

There is more wrong with the individual unit selections (like a Bonesword/Lashwhip on the Tyrant, for example), but first you should address the basic concept of your army first.

If you want to shoot with Tyranids, you need to get some more Carnifexes, period.

Your Dakkafex comes to 113 by by reckoning. I wouldn't recommend Warp Blast on your tyrant. A gun with multiple shots (most likely TWL Devourer) is a better bet if you don't have enhanced senses.

I copied this list from your other thread before I deleted it. There's really no need for you to have two seperate threads going about 1,000 point Tyranid lists:

Now as for some commentary, you definitely seem to be getting away from your shooty theme, have you essentially abandoned it?

As for this last list, its better than the one before (which didn't have enough Synapse) it still has some problems.

Your Raveners should be split into seperate units for versatility.

Termagaunts are okay, but they aren't going to win you any games. They usually get only one shot off before they either charge or are charged, and you pay the extra 1 point for that slightly upgraded shooting (meaning you have less bodies then you'd have with Spinegaunts).

You also now only have one unit of Genestealers which makes them the prime target for any opponent. Once they're dealt with there isn't much else in your army that's very scary.

Also, why take Warp Blast on your Tyrant with a Devourer? You can't fire another weapon the same turn as you use Warp Blast so you're better off just going with the 2nd Scything Talon if you really want to take Warp Blast. Either way, you can't use Enhanced Senses with the focused Warp Blast so you have a sub-optimal configuration at best.

Really, you should either make your winged Tyrant either into a full CC monster, or give him x2 TL Devourers, Enhanced Senses and Toxin Sacs and make him a mobile gunship.
