Alright. I know this has been brought up before but I couldn't understand it well then. Here is my problem. I love black armor. It looks freaking amazing. But unfortunately, my black armor doesn't say..."Hey punk back off this sexy black armor!!!!!!". Instead it says.."Yup, I am an average Joe black armor." My black armor doesn't look stale. But it doesn't have that KAPOW in it either.

You know white armor...you can blackline to make it look so much nicer. Red armor...yellow armor...pink armor...basically everything you can blackline, BUT black. And that blacklining really makes you model go pop. But if you paint black armor...you can't really blackline. Any way to counter this? Any way to make the model with black armor go pop?

I remember some Golden Demon winner bust out some nice glazes and stuff to make his armor stand out. Do any of you guys have any tips or potions (paint mixtures lol ) that could help a fellow BLACK KNIGHTS out?
i need profesional advice!!! please!!!
heres my black AHRIMAN but he doesnt have a lot of black on him!

Check out this very good explanation/tutorial specifically for painting black at brushthralls:

http://www.brushthralls.com/Black/index.php

Brushthralls is a group of quasi-official painters for Privateer Press. They also have a nice tutorial for painting white among other things.

Black is deceptively simple. That is, it contains alot of complexity if you know where to look. When doing black, the first thing you have to ask is...what TONE of black? Or, with what color will it be highlighted? The two most common black tones are grey and blue.

If you like a down and dirty "i've been fighing in the trenches" black then I would suggest highlighting with codex and fortress greys. Darken or ligten to taste.

For a glossy hight tech look I think Blue shading is best. You must darken the blues to makeit highlight evenly.

An easy way to give a further tech look is to use some magic wash. This will give it a bit of a shine without being overpowering.

Just my 2 cents.

Games Workshop actually put up a very useful (in my opinion) hobby article dedicated to painting black a while ago.
