I have been working on putting together an army for the Gladitator tournament for Adepticon.  Here is what I have come up with so far.  Sugestions welcome.
Army = Chaos Undivided

Prince
stature, Nurgle, Str, Aura, Manreaper, Speed, Frag.

Elites
3xOblits

Troops
6 Marines Las, Plas, Mark of Undivided

8 Deathguard
2xmelta, dreadclaw, furious Charge
Champ with Fist, mutation, and spikey bits.

8 Deathguard

Champ with Fist, mutation, and spikey bits.

8 Deathguard

Champ with Fist, mutation, and spikey bits.

5 Nurgling bases

Heavy
8 Marines
Mark of undivided, 4xmissile, tank hunters, Aspiring Champ (for the leadership)

Mark of undivided, 4xmissile, tank hunters, Aspiring Champ (for the leadership)

This comes out to 2003 points.  Need to shave 3 points.
Questions
Do you think furious charge on the poding deathguard is worth it?
Givin the armies that would show up would it be worth it to trade out 4 of the missile launchers for autocannons?
On a lord is Aura or Essence better to have?

Furious charge is not worth it on models that move 6". Generally you will either be charged, or moved away from.

I love tank hunting auto cannons. 8, strength 8 shots are really nice. A lot of times quanity is better than quality.

Always take essence over aura. Not all of the saves you will be making allow no saves, so it is always better to have the extra wound. And even in the best case, lets say you eat 3 lascanons, on average you will make one save which is the same as having an extra wound. The only time aura is better is when you are facing railcannons, and even then 33% of the time staying alive in not that great.

Aura vs Essence.

Against wounds that don't ignore your armor, essence is clearly better.

If you take up to 3 wounds that ignore armor essence is better, since there is only a 70% chance of getting at least 1 save with 5+ (30% chance you'll die).

After that aura is better, simply because you'll have a chance to live, although you'd have to be rather lucky to survive more than 5 hits.

Also, I'd suggest the autocannon on at least one of the havocs. You already have 4 las cannons (counting oblits) + 4 th missile launchers, not to mention the drop podding meltas.

I like the furious charge on the PlagueMarines. Correct me if I am wrong, but the Dreadclaw is an orbital lander/flyer. It lands in the opponents shooting phase and you then get to move and assault in your very next turn. No chance for anyone to move away from the Deathguard means the FC will be worth it.

I always like Aura over Essence. You are toughness 6 and only high ap weapons will bother you in shoting and more importantly only powerfists and MC's will bother you in HtH, which you will try and get into ASAP I presume. For most of the big things you will see in HtH at the Adepticon Gladiator, you will need the essence. Essense never helps vs. Implant Attack and Godzilla Nids of various forms are very popular in and around Chicago.

In that same regard I would keep the Missiles. They work better vs. marines out of cover, have a chance against monoliths, but most importantly they can affect those Tyranid MC's where autocannons do not. If you want to win the Gladiator you will have to face a Hierophant/Zilla list at some points. Plan to beat that army at some point.
