I have a quite large Steel Legion army with about 120 foot troops, 15 converted rough riders and 21 (3x7) grenadiers/storm troopers (SL legs and head, Cadian torso and arms, converted lasguns loaded with gear).
Currently I have embarked on another modeling project: Veterans, I want to make 3 10-man squads of gritty-battle crazed-hard as nails veterans, that retain the SL look though. The idea is to create something between WWI stormtropers, WW2 Fallschirmjager (paratroopers) and alternative-WW2 soldiers
Currently the plan is

1st Squad: At ease (Inspired from those rackham bald sharpshooters with scarves blowing in the wind)
2nd Squad: Charging (all will be running, and loaded with ammo pouches etc).
Ideas so far:
  1. Gunner: Huge musculated trooper with short shirt (and helmet and gasmask) carrying hand held heavy bolter
  2. Loader: As above loaded with bullet-belts
  3. Flamer Guy: Armed with 2 hand held flamers, with tank on his back
  4. Head Hunter: Knifes and hanging (severed) heads
  5. Pistolier: Firing 2 las-pistols
  6. Shotgunner: Self explanatory
  7. Grenadier: Self explanatory

3rd Squad: Charging (Fixed bayonets, crossing short obstacles, running, loaded with stuff)

These are some WIP ideas so far, BUT I do need some help: Ideas and visual inspiration. So post some ideas, or better yet pictures of cool looking troopers. They could be of any period (historical, modern, future, alternative historical, SiFi) and in any media (photos of models, illustrations, sketches) -you know- just to get the ball rolling

Thanks for your time and help
