Hey guys. This is my 1st attempt at making an Eldar list and quite possibly have found the most ineffective army ever.

My intent is to end up with a relatively effective list to take to the shop and play, but I don't want to be "that" guy. In other words, I want something that anybody would enjoy playing, be they Dakkites who want to go against something optimised, or a cherry such as myself that just enjoys collecting and playing with their "neat" stuff.

I'd like to avoid the more common optimisations such as 3 Falcons just because I see it so regularly.

Screw my reasons, just let the critiques rip!

Eldrad & Council- 408

  • x2 Spearlocks w/ Destructor
  • ConcealLock
  • x2 SpiritSeers w/ Embolden/ Enhance

Autarch & 5 Spiders- 282

  • ShuriPistol/Fusion Gun/ Scorpion Sword
  • Mandis and Jump Pack
  • Exarch w/ Assault/ Withdraw/ x2 spinners/ Power Blades

Snakes on a Plane- 265

  • x5 Dragons
  • Falcon w/ Scatter and ShuriCanon/ Holo and Stones

Storm Squad w/ SpearLock with Enhance and SpiritSeer- 135

x2 DA Squads- 496

  • 7 DAs
  • Exarch w/ x2 Avengers and Blade Storm
  • Serpent w x3 ShuriCannons/ Stones

x2 Wraith Lords- 260

  • x2 Flamers & TL Scatts

Total Points 1846

Thick skin's on so let the critiques rip. Thanks guys.

The mounted council might win you a few rolled eyes, if you are looking to avoid being 'that guy'. The SoaP is also pretty widely used, but it really is just effective, so no reason not to take it. All in all it is very similar to the sort of list I play, a combination of a hard center, and things that can zip around to deal out the pain.

Didn't see that the DA's were mounted, that might win you a few more complaints as this is a pretty vehicle centric list.

He's not going to kill the Falcon anyway, it's built from magic fairy wings and dreams. -- Phyraxis

Huh, I really didn't think 3 vehicles was that bad. Ok, something to think about...
As far as the Council goes, they are not mounted.

C'mon... 1 reply after 3 days?

Not my style (I am a 3 Falcon guy), but looks balanced.  No one can call this cheesy.  I would be concerned that only 5 Spiders, even with an Autarch may not be enough to weather fire until in combat.  I like at least 8 in a squad - especially with Hit and Run.  I have thought about the Eldrad and Council combination you have, but decided that without fleet or a transport, that squad isn't going anywhere fast.   Seems expensive to babysit the Wraithlords if that is your thought.

This reminds me alot of my old Eldar army.  And it lost.  Alot.  My problem was the lack of protection getting everything into range (or combat).  Or maybe my problem is bad tactics.  Not sure, but either way with the new codex  I am heading right into the mech Eldar mode....

Good point. I'll definitely look into this.

Thanks for pointing that out. My knee jerk reaction was wtf? No fleet? Then I re-read the rules and sure as sh!t you were right.

My intent was to advance the Council with the WL's, fleeting as necessary. Obviously that aint gonna happen. I also didn't want to utilize a transport because their powers would not be in play while they were mounted.

I really like Eldrad for his pure... Divination, 3 powers/ turn, so I would definitely like to keep him.
What do you think about letting him baby sit the WL's while a 2nd FS and Council lurks/ fleets as necessary?

Twin-linked weapons are inferior to having 2 different weapons. Maybe replace one of each of the WL's scatter lasers with a shuriken cannon or drop some points elsewhere and give them star cannon, or if you want to be fluffy and add slight more assault power, you could replace the 2nd scatter lasers with swords.

Do you see your guys leaving there vehicles much or are they just going to fly out try to hose one of your opponents flanks and only disembark when necessary? If they do leave their vehicles early on your guys seem very vulnerable to assault. Maybe replace the Warlock council and storm squad with some mechanized counter-assault.
