Okay, so here's a question or two about the new(ish) Eldar Codex.

The Wave Serpent can carry 12 'models'. The rules on Guardians specifically state we should imagine the weapons platform is carried (!) by one Guardian. It also states that the platform is ignored for practically every gaming purpose.

So does a Guardian squad of 12 Guardians (or less) with a weapons platform count as 12 models or 13?

And thus can a Guardian Squad (of any size  - provided it's 12 or less) with a weapons platform embark on a transport?

It seems stupid to me (lugging something that size onto a small transport) but lots of 40k rules do.

Ironically, they do. So do cheats.

Well, under the previous codex, it was specifically stated that Guardians with a platform COULDN'T get on a plane. Since they removed that specific note, I would assume it was intentional, especially because of their attention to detail about ignoring the platform completely.

However, though an interesting way to perhaps pack more serpents into an Eldar Mech army, I don't see why you'd want to put a Guardian squad with a weapon in a transport. Those weapons are expensive, and at BS3, you need to get as many turns of shooting in as possible.

I would just add that the codex does specifically state that one of the contexts in which you ignore the platform model is when counting the number of models in the unit (p. 39).  So it is pretty clear that a squad of 12 plus a weapon platform can embark on a Waveserpent.

Of course, BrotherAdso's tactical considerations still apply..
