Subject: IG: Jungle Fighters Doctrine and seeing through terrain?

I have a question about the jungle fighters doctrine It says on p 56 IG codex, that units upgraded to jungle fighters gain the following benefits: 1. can see 12" THROUGH forest or jungle terrain. The only limitation is that unit cannot include a lascannon. Now if I am reading this RAW then it means I can shoot THROUGH forests or jungles correct? I know people will say that it means that I have to be IN the forest, however, RAW it does not say that I have to be in the forest. It says that I can see THROUGH 12" correct? I am not asking what they meant, I am asking what it says RAW. So if enemy is behind a forest and I have JF doctrine, playing RAW, I can shoot them correct; provided I am not shooting through more than 12" of forest or jungle. Am I reading this correctly?

Think of it this way: if you're a regular unit and can see through 6 inches of forest terrain, but you're not in it, even if the forest is 3 inches thick, you still can't see anything on the other side of it. It will completely block line of sight, period.
I am pretty sure the wording for how a regular unit sees "through" it's 6 inches of forests and how Jungle Fighters see through their 12 inches are both similar, and since we already have proof that regular units cannot see "through" it unless they're in it, I think we can pretty much draw the same conclusion for Jungle Fighters.

It's poor wording on GW's part and they've continued to use it in the Kroot Merc army list and in the Kroot entry in the new Tau Codex (although at least they say something like: "they can see through 12 inches of forest terrain instead of the normal 6 inches").
It's just laziness, wiriting "through" instead of the more precise "into and out of ".
So yes, by the RAW there are several units/armies that can see *THROUGH* some types of area terrain, but absolutely no one is going to let you play it that way.
This is in my yakFAQ, by the way.

yeah, thats what I though Yak, also @ Mr. B I may be mistaken but I think the rules say, that the 6" is into or out of. It may however say through as well, I just dont want to go get my rules book out of my car. So gont quote me on that. I hope they fix a lot of these anomalies in the rules change, whenever they decide to do it. 2009?

the rule book says up to 6" into area terrain but never through it (pg 21), if you want to get real technicaul, that 12" through would have to be just that, through, or in one side and out the other, and the jungel fighters would still be limited to the same 6" into or out of area terrain as everyone else. which would make for some interesting situations.

Yeah, my bad, the wordings definitely are a bit different, and it leaves one to argue RAW vs RAI (rules as written vs rules as intended), but I have to say that this case is one of those shining cases where if you even go near touching this as RAW, you're likely to get more flak than a point-blank volley of AA batteries (that's anti-aircraft, not Duracel/Enegizer :-P)
For what it's worth, on every occasion I've seen tau with kroot, or the few times I've seen an all kroot army on the table top at my local GW, there has never been any tactics hinting at the ability to shoot something on the other side of a forest.
