I'm interested in what the tacticians at Dakka think. Which Codex is best at taking out MEQ's?

Man, that's the joy of Anime! To revel in the complete and utter wastefullness of making an unstoppable nuclear-powered combat andriod in the shape of a cute little girl, who has the ability to fall in love and wears an enormous bow in her hair. |

DE? That's a bit of a darkhorse, isn't it Darrian? Or have I just been out the game for so long that I'm not hip to the newest trends?

The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias |

Posted By Darrian13 on 03/05/2007 4:27 PM Dark Eldar Well I have a rather impressive record with DE versus Marines in tournaments and casual gaming. I would say DE would have to be up there with Disintegrators, Dark Lance, Blasters, Agonizers oh my I've never lost to Marines even the dreaded Fear of the Darkness Librarians ><. I have lost once to SoB, if you call them Marines. If I had to choose one army to take versus any Marine army I would use my DE armies, any flavor, Wych Cult or Kabal.

I wouldn't exactly say any one army... it is more a matter of how you use the things at your disposal then exactly what you have at your disposal. In general I find the best way to deal with MEQ is sheer volume of shots, make a guy save enough and even a 3+ ain't enough. But in the spirit of the question if I had to pick.... I would say eldar, they can put out plenty of shots at a decent range, and when the MEQ's get close they have nice charge/ counter charge ability... not to mention the withering hail of shurikens at 12" or less. I gotta go with wych cult DE. I'm sure that kabal DE is just as good, but I haven't ever seen it.
To my way of thinking, to be good at killing MEQs, you either have to be better at range than MEQs, or better at assault (and able to get there while still combat capable). There aren't many builds that are better at range than MEQs. However, wych cult DE (particularly the dual WWP build) are better at assault than MEQs and have the speed to get into close combat.

My money is on a well made Daemon Bomb list. Alpha Legion or Slaanesh. They can get up close quickly and cut down a ton of people.

Yes, a Wych cult is a variant army in the DE codex. Specifically look under Lelith toward the back of the dex. Essentially it lets you take wyches as troops, and Warriors are elites, but limits you to not taking other troops that don't fit in.

I agree that the right DE build is probably the most efficient meq killer. With maxed out str7 low-AP mobile firepower and massed armor-ignoring, high initiative assault, they can roll a straight 3+ save army in a couple of turns.
