Is the $69.99 with the 30% off? Still seems kind of high. You could just order Doom the boardgame for about the same ammount of $ and get the same number of tiles and free minis to boot!

The Litko Corridor System is made of laser-cut plywood. Comes unpainted. warp resistence plywood vs cardboard ? If your a serious Space Hiulk player .. this stuff is awesome.

No kidding? Would heavily priming (thus saturating the wood with non water based paint) both sides and then painting the boards keep it from warping?

Painting both sides usually helps... It's the paint soaking into one side of the ply that warps it. Painting both sides means that it will either not warp, or will turn into a surrealist sculpture, depending on the quality of the plywood.
Warpage could possibly vary as well depending on the paint you use, and how heavily it soaks into the wood.
Not impugning the quality of these specifically, since I haven't seen them up close... but personally, I'd want to paint a test piece before laying out any large sums of money on them.

Hmmm you have a point. MDF seems to be a better medium for this sort of thing. Perhaps I should shoot an emial over to CNC Workshop and see if they would be interested in such a venture. I havent had any problems with paint warpage from the MDF tiles CNC Workshop makes for their urban battlefields. But maybe it would be just as easy for someone to cut a 4'x4' sheet of MDF and make this themselves. Though with CNC's technology for cutting MDF, I am sure they could etch the floor tile design into the MDF and make a pretty decent quality product. Now if shipping wasnt so horrible from Oz....

Hold up .. if it is the same material Lithko uses for the bases ... they don't warp. Paint them all you want. So you got high grade wood system vs cardboard. First spilled drink on the table... I know what I am taking.
Lithko has a reputation of producing the finest line of historical wargaming bases around. Check out the reviews:

I wonder if that quality gaurantee extends to their corridor system.
if it does, then no harm if it warps due to paint.
Ill email them to see what they have to say.

well that settles the problem of samples I suppose. Now I wont have to drop a load of dough down just to find out if they warp under painting. Thanks for the heads up, Kyoto.

That's really cool. Thanks for posting this, HF. Oh, and if you (or anyone else) does test for warpage, please let us know how it goes.

One major problem with this set. Its basd on 35mm squares.
I use 40mm bases for my space hulk stuff. Even the stealers are mounted on 40mm bases.
I am not sure why he chose 35mm to be the tile size, but for me that just made this whole project a non buy. I suppose its ok if you have the original space hulk stuff though.
I emailed CNC workshop to see if they would be interested in making a corridor set that was a minimum 40mm based square.

what's wrong with double-wide corridors? Or bit of spill over on the sides? It's only 2.5mm per side.

Meh.
If I am going to spend that kind of jink on a space hulk board, it had better fit with my requirements.
But as I said, if you play 1st/2nd ed space hulk and use 25mm bases, this would be perfect.
*and I had to base everything on 40mm bases for aesthetics and balancing of stealers...*

Hellfury...the downloads on their sites for the tilesets and what not can probably be downloaded and expanded in photoshop to fit your size, and then you will just have to get some plasticard or something to cut out. That way you will have to spend like...nothing.

There's a review on The Miniatures Page http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=102883
Wimbrow 17 Mar 2007 9:18 p.m. PST I got my Master Set and Expansion set today and they are outstanding. After checking what else was new I sent out an order for several of the Deluxe Etched Blast Doors and two of the four doored 3x3 rooms.
The online instructions are quite clear as to warning about keeping the joints of floor tiles and doors to their stands free from paint but I'd call it about 1/32" or 1 mm clearance so there should be very little concern for gumming up the works.
I don't exactly know why I had to have these as I've got all the original big name space corridor game stuff but I'm going to have some fun decorating these the way I want to.
