The trees are great, I've been thinking of similar things myself. They look very fragile which could be a problem, but I woudln't worry too much about them rotting or going funny - I hear you are supposed to cook wood in the oven to kill bacteria or dry it out or something but the advantage of using wood to represent wood is that if it does rot then it will still look right.

Anyway, very cool stuff.

Bruticus: Yep, ive just started painting the trees now now. Im not happy with them at the moment, but well see.

Its been a while. I was over in the U.S.A for 6 weeks and kind of lost the blogging/foruming rhythm, but hopefully I can keep this running.
After reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy, and watching The book of Eli again, Iv'e become interested in doing something post apocalyptic style, within the 40k setting, so that might bear fruit at some point.

In the meantime, I have these two models to show. I'll be the first to say the painting is a bit sloppy in places, but its been awhile.

Durrack 'the runt' Murrah, Leader of the Hive gang of the same name. Pulling a blasphemous finger sign which would have him arrested and 'reeducated' at the point of a hot iron and blade were it to be seen by the Arbites.

The belly of a child's stuffed toy serves as his gun holster(I mangled the painting a bit but its meant to be a teddy bear)

And an Ash Waste nomad who I'm not exactly happy with.

As you can see from my sig Ive joined Bruticus and Meade on their site Ex Profundis, although I'm yet to post anything up. I guess I'm going to have to pick up my modeling game in such illustrious company.

LDD: Its nice to be back. I'm always hard on myself, its a dog eat dog world, making miniatures , Iv'e got to be totally at the top of my game. Show a sign of weakness and bam, I'll be consigned to page 126 of the dakka backlogs where there is a great wailing and gnashing of teeth. The nomads alright, just not quite right.... its a matter of my pedantic need to create something exactly like my original mental image/ idea.

neil101: Cheers, Iv'e seen scarpers stuff before, really awesome, a shame he hasn't posted in a while.
Iv'e recently been gazing in rapture at the game Metro: last light. Just got to resist the urge to build some slimy musty ol' Metro tunnels, dripping with rotten weeds, fleshrotted corpses and rusting tangles o... No, I must be strong, I must resist the urge..........

Ex Profundis is indeed lookin good, both design wise and miniature wise. I'm just waiting till I feel Iv'e got something good enough to go up.

Onemannoodles: Ayh thanks, but your Militia are awesomely ecclisiastical. I feel the same way whenever I look at Neil101 or PDH or Bruticus', or any number of other peoples' work.

Sorry the pictures not that clear(sorry for saying sorry so much) The backpack and turban are from a forgeworld Tallarn kit, the body from a cultist, an Empire pistol and the other arm is from a Hobbit goblin.

Also, this is what I'm currently working on:
An obese vampire for Bruticus' Throne of Bones. Since the photo ive ditched his legs, cut of his head to reposition it and done little else.

Also, Ive degoofed: (dee-goofed, the literal act of removing goof, or the semblance of goofiness from an object, place or person) the G.W skeletons(clearer pictures later):

Dog eat dog world I hope not "looks around suspiciously " self criticism is not always abad thing helps you lift your game and reach the perfection you desire.

However you have a talent and style I wish I owned myself, but viewing it at least fills the void somewhat

I personally love the Nomad and had figured out the body you used correctly it was the head I was not sure of as it made me think FW but looked so different at the same time.

But nice conversion and I have a use for all those DC I bought of ebay now , the obese Vampire made me think of that damn thing in Blade the one they burn to death with the UV torch.
I gather he will be reclining on some kind of extravagant lounger surrounded by his feed of the day wait night ?

As for the skeletons I want a how to on them as they actually look aggressive and evil, not that stupid cartoony clumsily look they normally have

The fat vampire has potential but I'm really interested in these skeletons, I've been trying to figure out how to do some myself - I really dislike skeletons with bleached white bones and lots of equipment, skeletons should look like they just dragged themselves out of the dirt and grabbed whatever weapon they could find.

Ldd: Youre right there although, its good to reach a balance being critical and sometimes being happy with what you produce. The fat vampire will probably be reclining on a pile of stain, torn but still elegant cushions, ideally giving a 'come hither' look (if i can pull it of) and beckoning 'seductively' towards his next meal as his retainers carry them forwards.

Bruticus: Amen to that, ive definitely been thinking along the same lines.

Well, here they are, although one, a kislevite spearman is still waiting for paint. There are a couple more wip photos on Ex profundis(link in my sig)
