OneManNoodles: Thanks, the Tallarn bits are great, I got a mate to pick them up from the FW shop while he was in the U.K. Their the first F.W kit i've owned .
By the way I Love your mechanicus shrine.

Liamahead: Thanks

Lone dirty dog: Thank you as well, and yes that is indeed a Tallarn body. The biker is incredibly hard to photograph clearly, due to his pose. Hopefully its clearer now hes painted.

I have finished painting the biker, and as PDH mentioned over on the Ammobunker I have gone for a somewhat Mad Max like look on him. Sorry there are so many photos,
it was hard to capture the model with only a few photos. If you zoom up on them in the dakka gallery they should be a bit clearer.

And here are some clearer photos of the penitent

Great work looks totally Mad Max and the paint work really picks up on the theme, the FW Tallarn are pretty nice kits although limited in the range.

You never mentioned what the torso of the biker was from though

Some pictures of the Underhive board iv'e been working on, although nothing is stuck down:

The Underhive- Wips

The mask will be at a different angle, looking down upon the cowering populace. At the moment most of the stuff in there is just a place holder,
and the buildings on the right in the above image will probably end up as sort of grim dark favela.

Everything is still very early in production, and hasn't been glued down so your comments and advice in possible placement would be much appreciated.

Cheers lone dirty dog, but what are you trying to insinuate about my precious table?

Well, thanks to Tomasz and his blog The Metatyrant, I have been reinspired to try this idea. Although I have a whole load of other projects this one allows me to keep working on my Arbites.
Here is the Wip judge…

The bit of blu tack hanging from his mouth is going to be a scroll.(sorry the picture is so big)

Hopefully, if I can sculpt it, he will have a writing utensil,on his mouth similar to the mandibles of a spider. Like this.

With some more wip arbites

By the way has anyone else been disappointed by some of the new ork releases, like the mighty warp bubble gun, and the mek boy who looks like a cheap conversion of the basic ork boys back in my day we had proper orks not these-.--grumble grumble, rant etc

Yes. As a long term ork player most of the new stuff disappoints me. Your underhive garbage landscape looks beautiful and the conversions/paintjobs are phenomenal. In this hobby there are a few who convert well, a few who paint well, and a very rare few who do both well. This blog fits the last category.

Subscribed.

I like the walkway. And I recommend butchering the Styrofoam piece and reassembling it to make it look less like a piece of prefab Styrofoam. You can add a lot of texture on the cheap by mixing craft sand (that can be found in hobby or craft stores) into acrylic paint and then slathering it on the exterior walls of your buildings. Makes it look like stucco or concrete forms once it's painted. Remember that layers add detail, even if those layers are literally paper thin. I use cereal boxes and sketch pad paper.

Keep at it, looking great so far.

Also, I recommend more walkways. Varied in length, width, height, and disrepair.

Thanks for the kind words mate The terrain has still got a long way to go, and I plan to cover the outside of the styrofoam with a whole lot of detailing, gantries and scaffolding to maximize the places models can stand on.

Now for a massive image dump, Ive just got around to editing some earlier images on gimp:

Thankye kindly Ruglud Ill get some pictures up of the car when i get a chance, although its not very impressive, just an toy Audi painted grimdarkerly

Now, theres the good news and the bad news. The good news being that I finished sculpting the Judge, and he was, (in my opinion) the coolest model iv'e made. .. The bad news is that I sprayed him in the wrong manner destroying the precious detail and basically covering all of the work I had done.
In scraping of this gunk I damaged his writing mandibles, and a few others details.
In the end i just couldnt rebuild those details, so i just painted him as was… here he is.
On a happier note I just found the Confrontation rules on Yaktribe gaming, they are really rather inspiring.

just a quick update here, ive chosen different legs for the marine, as i didnt feel the ones he had gave him the ponderous movement/heroic walk i was looking for. Here are some picks of him, Brother sergeant Aelius of the ultramarines with his legs very roughly blutaced.

Are the old legs better, or do you prefer these-your opinions would be valued.

And now for something completely different

before embarking upon my current inq28 mission me and a mate also planned a mordhiem campaign(it never happened)
Although the campaign crashed and burned, before it even took of we both got plenty of models together, and i began to channel that city of the damned into some terrain. So for now, until inspiration strikes once again i will be drip feeding the members of the warband, and eventually the terrain, to your here.

First we have part of a semi ongoing project to build all of the hired swords from the rulebook.

Of course, like any wizard worth his salt, or indeed warpstone, he has a menagerie of items, including an orkoid skull, a pidgeon, feathers and plenty of other baubles.

And a halfling ranger.(just noticed that the paint has come of his nuckles)

Made in nz
Disassembled Parts Inside a Talos

So far I have built the warlock/hedge wizard, the elf ranger, halfling scout and two dwarf slayers. That leaves the pit fighter, ogre body guard and the freelancer knight.

The idea with the ranger was to create a somewhat less 'Prissy' elf, one who doesnt look like they care about all the dirt on their nice, clean, white robe. In effect he needed to be really nicely blood splattered.--

A slightly clearer pic of the scout.

With the next update i will hopefully have pictures of the Grunberg city watch.

Thanks folks, i have indeed taken some more pics( a laborious task as there are so many of them.) First we have the Grunberg city watch, led by watch captain Himmelreich, inspired by Sam Vimes, from Terry Pratchetts night watch. I usually use Reiklander rules for these lads

Captain Himmelreich

The large fella

watchmen

The obligatory Drunkard

The poncy pistolier(just look at his feather, and his well maintained mustache, ive heard it said its more precious to him than the wyrdstone itself)

The Sturdy men of the nights watch.

Next we have the lost and the damned( although their more lost than they are damned )

Next we have the Skulle Enfante. (You cant get more blanchian than adding e's at the end of words, and mispelling them)

I am rather proud of his single bulging and blood shot eye.

The design on his back is a mix of a three eyed evil sun and a chaos star, with a triangle between the eyes…
woah, did I here someone say ILLUMINATI
Next, a zombie. Every one likes zombies.

The hunter

The skaven, Skreth mouldmange

And lastly, hailing from the chaos wastes, the mighty, the malignant, the evil, Herg of the Yusaks with his mighty bow Grehl.

Next will be my first mordhiem warband(and the worst painted) the Schwarzbridge gang

Characterful models as usual! My favorite has to be the Watchman hunching over the light of his lantern peering into the darkness.

The various dregs and scum are really great as well, the zombie with the scroll-shield is nice.

Neil 101: cheers, the stone monolith is a plaster cast of the brettonian reliquary i made awhile ago, it was pretty munted so it worked. Ive started using my screwed up spray technique on bases, as it makes an interesting rough texture to paint over. I was looking through your gallery a while ago- and those pics of the tzeentchi scenery are stunning, i would have sworn I was looking at real, overgrown ruin if I hadnt seen your cutting mat in the background.. Stunning..

Mister Feral: I do have a soft spot for that watchman as well- he looks great on the board- pearing out into the darkness as some gribbly creature rises behind him.

SilverMK2: Thank you

Now for a serious terrain update. First the town of Grunberg, which I made up. It is, in my head, a small vassal town near to Mordhiem, which was just as badly affected by the comet, and the influx of oddities that it caused.
First, the map of Grunberg.

And for those who are interested, on the blog, there are a few more photos and Williams wonderful warband(see what i did there )

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And heres a wee bit more, A witch hunter, a priest and a question.

Just a little teaser of Williams work...

And the question. Ive been ticking away with this fellow for a while, as a lack any real inspiration to paint him, now ive hit a snag.

Do you think his umbrella should be Purply Blue, or another colour like red. Obviously red is more Blanchian, but he might become a bit dull unless I introduce another colour.
Your opinions would be valued

Once again just simply amazed you seem to emulate a sense of dirt and gloom so convincingly

Grunberg has some resemblance to the village in brothers grim, the texture you have achieved with your paint scheme is just brilliant.

The wood on the small shack is just mind blowing its so realistic, then the rusty panels are so convincing

You just continue to surprise and amaze with each update, it is a real joy to admire your work.

If you have the time would you mind sharing your paint recipe for the wood and rusty panels

The priests robe is great the shading really draws out the folds and the book seems aged like a real relic.

As for the umbrella I think a muted tone of red would work nicely

Cheers. From what i can remember the wooden panels are painted with all citadel paints, The most important thing there wasnt the paint job, but the initial texture. I used a brass bristle brush on balsa wood- a scrubbing movement up and down the grain, which creates a wonderful grained, rotting wood texture. Also pressing pins and pokers into the balsa to make rotten/ bug infested holes.
For the paint probably rakarth flesh, then devlan mud, then skull white, then devlan mud(maybe a bit of seraphim sepia) Then drybrush in rakarth felsh with more skull white. Finally nuln oil in areas i wanted darkened, and a careful skull white drybrush. I think some areas had green and yellow washes on random areas. The last drybrush is the most important, as thats what picks up all the texture, and makes it look so detailed.

It takes along time to achieve, and I dont usually use citadel paints, but it was so small I wanted to finish it to a higher standard for fun.

I cant remeber what the rust was but ill make a note of it next time i get around to painting some.

I was reading through your thread from 2013, and wondered if you were still planning that project, it sounded really cool but you didnt post any pics. You might be interested in looking at the graphic novels by Stephen King, Dark Tower. Although the exact setting is somewhat different to what you described you might find it good for ideas. There are also really cool mutants in it.

Wow that village is really sombre, i love it ! The map is also a great touch , your artistic style is really shining through.

you could paint the umberella guys face red , like in the image from the dark tower cover for contrast. or maybe add small red trinkets blood drops kill trophies etc dangling down from the underside /edge of the umbrella.

Cheers, i do prefer the respirator. 'cept the original bald one had a certain 'Honourable Ultramarine' look to it, and seemed to echo the physical, almost alien gigantism that some Writers describe the astartes as having.
But on the other hand, the respirator just looks dangerously serious.

Maaaaaaan that terrain looks awesome! Very curious to see how you'll develop the village further. Would be a nice though to also do the shoreline, where the boats dock and such.

Have you also posting some of this stuff on Yaktribe, it's a cool Necromunda/Mordheim community.
