Hi,

I just got back into playing with my Eldar after about 2 years.  Currently my Eldar force is based on the Mech Eldar concept.  I have 3 Falcons in my list.  I'm currently thinking of equipping them with starcannons as their secondary weapon.  This would allow me to shoot with the pulse laser and also the starcannons.

Should I continue this trend or perhaps look into EML or BL as my secondary weapon.  I really like the vehicle be able to shoot every weapon that it carries.  But I do realize in a anti-tank role it may require a different configuration.

Perhaps I can leave the AT function to my Waveserpents with TL BLs?

k ive already ran this list up for fun as i run a tank tau force

eldar make the best tank comapny in the game-

your serpents will need to be taken in numbers with TL bright lance, spirit stone, shuriken cannon and vectored engines.

making them ideal for killing armor with a little anti-troop in there as well

the falcons are your troop killers-holo field, spirit stone, vectored engines, pusle laser(standard), scatter laser and shuriken cannon-gives you more shots at a respectable S6 than a star cannon and you still have your pulse laser there for some AP2 tank killing love.

now if you feel the need to branch out you can always get some FW variants of the falcon like the firestorm with the 3 long ranges scatter lasers for a whoppin 12 shots of S6 anti-infantry love.

now depending on how you want to run it will determine how many you have but if you go on the cheap to get more vehicles you can take 6 serpents with min sized dire avenger squads and a farseer with some wargear along with the 3 standard falcons equiped as above all in at under 1850

Id second that. Putting expensive weapons on the Falcon is just more incentive to keep him stunned. Two Shuricannon is best imo. Bright Lances are better on Serpents to keep thouse nonscoring types a threat after they delivered their load and benefit from twin linked. You also waste little shots this way in overkills.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

What I am reading here is music to my eyes. Brightlances on Wave Serpents are good? I have a forgeworld Wave Serpent with btrightlances (as I wanted to twin link a single shot weapon) however with the new prices I have baulked on my 45pt weapon upgrades and even thought about removing them - something I don't want to do.

I have two Falcons and a Wave Serpent, I am assuming this is not enough for the brightlance to be a positive factor. I need to take more, yes?

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

So, scatter laser is a good secondary weapon for the Falcon.  That's probably a good idea.  I often use my farseer to GUIDE the falcons.

So, if I have 3 falcons and 3 waveserpents, where else should I look for more Anti-vehicle weapons?  I also have several vypers with scatter lasers, they are probably not worth upgrading to Bright Lances.

I need to take more, yes?

most definately. if your going vehicle heavy in 40K you need to take as many as you can to spread your enemies anti tank fire and reduce its effectveness. most armies aside from necrons only have 1 or 2 guys in an entire unit that can hurt your vehicles VS every guy being able to hurt you. so it reduces the effectivenss of what they can do to you. its a classic exapmle of target and points denial-you may not have as many units but they are harder than hell to bring down.

my tau force at 1850 has 5 fish and 3 hammerheads in its vehicle arsenal, and aside from facing necrons i manage to keep them alive and shootng against most opponants

alot of that depends on your playing style. there are lots of options-stick a squad of those elite guys with the entire squad equiped with  assault metla weapons (can't remember thier name) in the back of a serpent, jet it out unload and shoot. if your serpents BL doesn't do the job the squad full of meltas will or they can choose a different target than the serpent.

war walkers also make good fire support platforms with scatter lasers, star cannons and bright lances.as optional weapons to do either anti-troop or tank work depending on how you equip them.  they may not survive as well as a skimmer moving "fast" though.

vipers are like land speeders but worse with less firepower and being open topped, i personally would steer clear of them.

i don't remember if it is in the new dex, but i do recal that squad of jet bikes you can take where all of them have a bright lance.

think about the balance of your force so that it fits your playing style and has both vehicle and troop killing power.

the one weakness of my tau list is it is heavy on troop killing and light on anti-vehicle so i switched my crisis suited commander around to be a kamikaze tank killer to add some more AT to my standard list.

when i go over 2K i can put in a second HQ and equip each with a retinue so my AT work is pretty much dealt with.
