... from Privateer Press:

Responding to popular demand, we are happy to announce the production of all new full-color 2007 WARMACHINE® Faction Decks. Keep playing in style with updated rules, amazing art, and a fresh new design drawn from the pages of the newly released WARMACHINE: Prime Remix.

This July, Privateer Press will release five (5) decks of cards (Cryx, Cygnar, Khador, Protectorate of Menoth, and Mercenaries.) Each non-collectible deck of 81 cards is presorted and contains the entire set of faction stat cards for use in WARMACHINE. Every unit, solo, warjack, and warcaster from Prime Remix, Escalation, Apotheosis, and Superiority are presented in glorious full color with multiples of some cards. The decks are sold separately, and the cards will not be available individually. The new 2007 WARMACHINE Faction Decks will be available only while supplies last.

Current Cards Now Online: As promised, leading up to the release of these decks we will be selling our current color cards individually online for those who need an immediate replacement for lost or damaged card. The current color cards are available only while supplies last.

For an inexpensive, accurate, and stylish representation of your entire army, don't miss the new 2007 WARMACHINE Faction Decks releasing this summer.

Damn you PP, you are too enticing!

This really falls into the category of something I don't need at all, but really, really want!

Darn it!

Not likely to happen until there is a real reason for them to do so.

The original decks were released to let everyone replace their black and white cards if they so chose.

The new decks are being released because of certain tweaks and clarifications in Remix.

Hordes will not see a deck release until Primal Remix or if they decide to change the format of the cards.

Not to completely derail this thread, but:

Does anyone think we'll ever see a new Warmachine faction or will such things be relegated to Merc status?

I think its a particularly poignant question considering the Rackham news posted on this same page. In Bey's post he explains how they have far too many armies to support at present and forces with less customer interest will be incorporated into an 'Allies' system.

I have been wondering that for a bit. When exactly does Warchmachine outgrow itself so much that it becomes hard to support. You can't just keep releasing minis and rules, plus supporting the old stuff forever. Eventually it weighs itself down. There is a point in growth where it becomes too cumbersome, but you have to keep releasing to keep making money.

GW ran into that with retailers complaining about the amount of shelf space everything took.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

Well, so far they've been able to keep the factions and their releases pretty tight. Most Factions have 3-5-ish casters and a handful of epics, all of which cause the game to be played radically differently from the next. An Old Witch army is going to be VERY different than an Irusk army, than an Epic Vlad Army, etc.. Mercs were the ones behind the 8-ball but with 2 rhulic and 3 human casters (when Captain Shae comes out) that'll get them up to speed.

Hordes kind of eliminated the 'need' for a new faction in the fluff and in the game (even better than new factions; new factions with almost entirely different playstyles and mentalities!). I could see them doing a Minion faction (I know some PP fanboys have been kveling for a Farrow Shaman Warlock, for example), but 5 from each game really is plenty...

The only other thing I can think of them doing is maybe introduce rules wherein you don't need 'casters/'locks (not primary rules, but something like a 'Grind' or 'Combat Patrol' if you will), or starting to do real sub-lists, where certain casters could only use certain 'jacks/units  (the Merc contracts and the theme armies kind of hint at that already). But I'd guess that'd be off in the future.

Besides, with this last release, they didn't really introduce many new casters (mercs being the exception). There's still room to do cavalry 'casters, for example...

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

So is this new set going to contain the new mercs/pirates cards? If so, then its a buy for me, if not, there will be no need for me to aquire it.

I am assuming they wont be included since the pirate mercs are not found in the 4 publications mentioned earlier that are getting the treatment.

If I had to lay money down and bet, Hellfury, I'd say 'no', Shae and his Emo-Pirates will not be in the faction deck.

And you won't need him to be, anyhow.  If you're already sold on buying him and all his pillaging friends, you get the cards (which will likely be in the new format) in the blisters, regardless.

The reason people want the new decks are:

1) They've lost or destroyed their previous cards. (what do you mean Sharpie won't wipe off my cards?)

2) Their cards represent rules that have been revised or rewritten. (they did -what- to Icy Gaze?)

3) Their cards are black and white (Bette Davis stars as Feoria in 'One Night in Sul')

4) They're cheap and they want to avoid buying previous rulebooks but still have access to the rules to make informed model purchaces. (what the hell is 'Apotheosis,' anyway?)

It is unlikely Shae will suffer from the first three issues and it is counterintuitive of PP to encourage #4.

I think this is simply a customer-support service.  And if they turn a tidy penny on it, too, good for them.

Thats my problem though, as I wont be buying PP's models to play the game. I have enough models (with the exceptions of the warjacks) that will be used to proxy as Shae's clan.

Empire cannon from 6th edition boxed game, empire militia (of mordheim fame), a few converted plastics to rep the solos and such, etc. My only reason for not buying PP's minis:
A) I already own the models
B) I like to work more with plastic than I do with metal (plastic being able to more easily modify and personalize an army)

Ill just have to find a set of cards and reprint them I suppose.

They will be doing decks for 5 factions Cryx, Cygnar, Khador, PoM, and Mercs.
Books from Prime-Remix up to Superiority. Nothing from the next book.

They will also be doing Hordes faction decks for the 4 main factions.

You can buy singles for the current crop of cards on the PP webstore. After the current run of color cards are sold they will be going to the new Color Card setup. New Art, new layout etc...

Oh, right, the bizarro-universe pirates.  I remember you mentioning that on the boards, before.  I failed to consider that motivation when making out my list earlier.  But it still would be ill-advised for PP to fascilitate that kind of proxy-building.  That said, Shae's card should be available on the website along side other card 'singles.'

I'm not saying that your proxy idea is poor.  I have a couple Reaper figs I use in my force with cards stolen from the Prime/Escalation deck.

However, in the ongoing back-and-forth regarding plastic vs. metal, in the interests of full disclosure, I have to come forward as a pro-metal proponent.

Also, bottom of PP Store front page has a blurb about Warmachine and Hordes Faction decks coming soon.

Hordes decks will probably not release at the same time as the new WM decks though.
