I've been sucked into playing in my first Gamesday Tournament (Los Angeles, in August) and since my amy choices are Tau and...Tau, I'm leaning towards fielding a Farsight list. However, I'm having some trouble squeezing it all into a 1500 list that I feel is strong enough so I thought I'd look for some feedback on how to make it uh, not suck so much. The army: HQ: Farsight: 170 points Farsight's bodyguard: 4 Fireknifes with Targeting arrays (3 have target locks) and 2 shield drones each 1 Airbusting Frag Projector + Flamer + Target Lock + 2 shield drones 1 Twin Linked Fusion + Target Lock + Failsafe Detonator + 2 shield drones Bodyguard total: 665 points Shas'o Ninja: Fusion Blaster + Shield Generator + Vectored Retro Thrusters + Stimm Injector: 127 points Troops: 6 Fire Warriors 60 points 6 Fire Warriors 60 points Elites: Crisis Deathrain with BS4: 53 points Heavy Support: 2 Broadsides with ASS and Team Leader with Drone controller and 2 shield drones: 195 points Railhead with Burst Cannons, Multi-Tracker, Target Lock, Decoy launchers 170 points Total - 1500 points Farsight ends up one suit short of full, with 12 shield drones. I don't think there's any way to max out the unit and keep the Railhead, but then again I don't know if I really need the railhead. My expectation is that I'll see a lot of armor and a lot of anti-armor in the tournament, so either the railhead's mobility will help me kill something like an indirect Defiler or Basilisk that would otherwise rip farsight's unit up...or it will just draw every lascannon under the sun and die quickly. So not having it may give those types of weapons less good things to shoot at, but I don't know. This army seems a lot easier to build (and mor effective?) at 1750 but I haven't played it anywhere near enough to know. My regular Tau army (30 kroot, 3 185 point railheads, 2 fireknife teams w/shield drones, 2 fireknife leaders, 4 stealth, 12 fire warriors) may be more effective at this points total but the idea of having to base and finish all those kroot makes me cry inside.
