I was wondering if anyone has seen a Good robe sculpting tutorial? The character made by Chris Borer has inspired the Fallen side in me. Be very nice to get a good look at how the Robes are done. And what character rules does this guy use? Anyone?

he uses Azrael's rules. He is the Grand master of a Dark Angels successor chapter. The other sculpts can be found on the GW page where you found him.

That conversion isn't tournament legal.

Between depriving a man of one hour from his life and depriving him of his life there exists only a difference of degree. You have done violence to him, consumed his energy. Because he uses the sword bit from a Rackham model. It's a filed down sword from the Griffon Inquisitor 1. The front of the blade is filed down flat to remove the rune engravings, then he replaced them with engravings of his own. In the pre-painted shot you can see the putty work where he smoothed over the runes. Either that or he carved his own chunk of metal to have the exact same shape as the Inquisitor's sword, put putty over nothing, and just happened to put runes in roughly the same spot as the Rackham piece... but I don't think it's that coincidental.

A model needs to be at least 50% G.W. for it to be legal...as far as I know you can bring models with parts from other companies without problems...as a matter of fact i remember a Nightlords feature in Whitedwarf with the champion having a reaper minis head and hands...not sure what issue

Huh, last I checked in any official GW event models have to be entirely GW or hand sculpted, no parts from other companies at all. Maybe that's changed in the last couple of years, I've been out of the scene for 2 years.

Uh, it's always been the case that you can use figures in GW events that use parts from other companies miniatures in the conversion so long as the figure is based on a GW miniature or is composed of majortiy GW parts. Else you would have to disqualify all sorts of figures that use scale models as the basis for conversions, or vehicle accessory kits that are so popular in adding stows, and so on so forth. If you are seriously giving grief over the use of a Rackham bit on an plainly obvious 40k figure, the problem is not the conversion...

I was merely commenting on what I thought the standard as far as official tournaments/ GD's was. My mistake.

Try http://www.dysartes.com/model/modelling/sculptingrobes.php Hope the link works- I'm at work, and the stupid net filters out anything to do with 'games'. But Dysartes is a pretty good resource for converting in general. [Edit] Home, checked- link works! Yaaay!

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.
