Ft.McMurray, Ab, Canada

Planning on attending my first Conflict in Aug this year and would like advice on tweaking the following list (approx 1700 pts);

HQ

Tyrant- Winged, LW and B Sword, Scy Tal, Warp Field, Tox miasma, and +1 WS

Brood Lord with 5 stealers (scy tal and ext car)

Elites

Dakkafex

Carnifex- Scy Tal, TL Dev, Mace, +1 BS

Troops

24 Hormies-+1 Int, +1 WS, +1 ST

10 gaunts

10 gaunts

Fast Attack

3 warriors- Winged, RC, Scy Tal

Heavy

Gunfex- +1WD, +1 BS, Ext Car

Carnifex- C Claws, VC, +1WD, Ext car, +1 WS, Tox Sac, Mace, Tusked

2 Zoanthropes

The thoughts were to advance the elites and troops, let hormies assault and allow warriors and tyrant to pile in, Broodlord infiltrates where useful and heavies placed as appropriate.  I have been pretty successful with other nid buils locally but would like to get into the tourney mindset.  All opinios appreciated.

Flyrant: I don't really like that combo. It is geared towards hitting things that may be best left to your stealers.

Retinue, the ST are very likely wasted points, they often do not live to use them. That said, it is the way I run them, I like having the big threat out there.

Elitefex: a CC fex is just slow. The only units you will get to fight, are the ones you really don't want to fight. The ones coming after you.

HGaunts: I would put them in 2 broods. Hopefully with a couple more each. (IOW, 14)
Gaunts: 10 really isn't enough to be effective. Try and keep it at 12-16. Also, what kind of gaunts?

Gunfex: I really think you will be better off with +Sv instead of +W
Other fex: You really want the +BS for the VC to hit. You will likely never get the charge. CClaws are only a tiny bit better than ST, but much more expensive. I don't like to mix range and CC, but you seem to,so that is cool.

What do the Zoans have?

T.O.

The bone sword and lash whip dont maximize your tyrant's potential. He's really fast so he'll be fighting on his own terms, a defensive weapon choice doesnt make sense, devourers or some other ccw would work better.

Dont use close combat 'fexes. You have a lot of fast units and by the time the big things get to combat the enemy should be crippled. with extra armour and wound your carnifexes can handle almost anything not designed to kill them with equal proficincy. If you make their battle feild roles similar, by giving them all guns and armour, you can keep them together making them a massive wall of points that your opponent will be hard pressed to break. Dont be afraid to use guns with tyranid they have some serious fire power when they want.

Gaunts? Why? and Zoanthropes? Drop the warriors for more Geanstealers or warriors as they dont seem to fit the armys style. gaunts are nice but it means you'll hace to slow down your synaps unless you keep the zoanthropes. You'd be better off with some real geanstealers or more hormagaunts.

Speaking of geanstealers, remember the broodlords body guard is just a delivery system. Don't spend too many points on them 'cause with any luck they wont live to the end of the game.

Please put this on your sig if you know someone, work for someone or are related to someone who suffers from stupidity. Stupidity is real and should be taken seriously. You could be sitting next to a sufferer right now. There is still no known cure for stupidity and sympathy does not help. But we can raise awareness.... 93% won't copy and paste this because they don't know how to copy and paste
