I plan use the mobile Conqueror to Harry Light Troops and deny ground to the enemy ,

The two leman Russ MBT will remain hull down and use the BS4 and Anti tank rounds plus hunter killer missile to attack Tau Tank,Apc and broad side squads.

Storm troopers and chimera act as a fire base . They use tageters to help make the fire from my griffon and other units more accurate. I will allways shoot with the Storm troopers 1st.

Griffon Fires at targets targeted by storm troopers. Once the storm troopers are dead it will begin targeting light infantry units.

I have a laz cannon on my chimera , mounted on the hull. My enemy will agree to me using it.

 

This is my first time trying to make a small armoured company with the models i have available. everything on the list is represented on the models.

BUt is it a legal army list and even if i keep my tanks hull down , can i hope to beat a Tau force, which can be quite anti tank equipped?

the guy i play likes to sit on his table edge blasting away with heavy guns until all my charging space marines are dead so i aim to use this small army to sit on my edge and lob some heavy stuff back at him. i do not expected to be assaulted or to have to hold a location for very long.

I wish i could have a 3 cadian mortar teams in my fast attack option loaded into APC.  can i do this? They would further aid my griffon to lock on to targets.

 

Do i still get prelimary barages?

No, it's not legal. You only have 1 troop.

Why? Chimera are pretty well armed as is. They're roll is anti-personnel/ light vehicle.

How? Targeters have no effect on the shooting of other units.

You may wish that right now, but once you played them you'd wish you had spent your time and money on something worth using. Mortars are ineffective and do not supplement Griffons.


You've got a bit of fat that can be trimmed from this list, ala track guards and heavy stubbers. You should lose the Lascanons on your tanks. HB's are cheaper and 9 HB shots are nothing to sneeze at. Instead of doctrines, I think it would be more valuable to add more tanks. Ya know, to atleast get the list to a legal standard of 2 troops.

Adding more tanks would also give your opponent's guns more targets to shoot at, thereby making your vehicles a bit more survivable through target saturation.

I think you've got too many Stormies. 8 would be the max I ran. Additionally, I don't see the point of a GL and a PG. 2 PG's is more effective . It's never a very good idea to mix weapons in IG units. Whether Mech, Drop troops, Gunlines or AC, units should be tooled to do a job, not to be take all comers.

I will Get a new leman russ to complete the troops entry. I would like a further battle cannon anyway. this new leman russ could be an exterminator and that will compensate for all those laz cannons.

 

I will leave the laz cannons on because they are good for slaying broad side suited tau and i wish to kill these guys more then anything else. Once they are gone my tanks can move about with more freedom.

 

The targeters enable me to measure ranges.  So if i measure how far the troopers are away from my griffon during deployment and allways fire with my storm troopers first it should help me guess the ranges slightly better.  The idea of having a morter section is for a similer reason .....fire  with storm troopers , then small mortars and  finaly firing the griffon. One day have two griffons hopefully once all the broad side tau are flattend by laz cannons and battle cannon fire the mortars would make a mess of tau and kroot. maybe even breaking them.

 

i did also think i could replace the heavy bolters on the Conqueror with heavy flamers. with a new leman russ exterminator i could get away with this.

im glad to be using Guard again.

ha, honestly the current armor company list is pretty balanced , epcially if you compare it to the 9 bassy   for 3 HS on the FoC from the armor companies of yore.

There seemed to be an unbalance between Tau and SPace marines (including space wolves too).

I tried to help even things out by placing more cover but tau .....my mates tau have the range and the mobility and the marker lights and the pure hitting power that after loosing every game and then watching some else with marines also loose all his games, i decided to quit with space marines and return to guard.

I used to play as guard in Epic and then 2nd gen 40 k and only lost a few times against eldar and wiped out a tyranid force with ease it has to be said...he even had some strategy card that enable him to have new tyrinid units every turn.

i hope things go well with my new force.  i plan to expand it. and i like the idea of a tank company. i can add genuine kill markings to them after each fight.

i could put heavy flamers onto my conqueror  and use it like a heavy hellhound providing my leman russ battle cannon team  can kill the tau broadsides. i think now that a lemanruss exterminator is the unit i need to fill that troop space and it can work with the conqueror tank in killing mobile enemy troops like path finders in stealth suits and so on.

i have a spare Plasma gun trooper i will replace the grenade launcher guy with him.... so 2* PG's. i only wanted to use the GL because the model looks wicked.

then i would like a armoured fist unit in fast attack and i could either use them to screen my storm troopers or just drop them around my griffon posistion to protect it against deep striking tau.

 can i still use assassin?

so i think i need two new tanks   i may hit ebay to get them.

i will sell all my marine stuff. the new rules have truly buggered them up and against tau they will only perform on a tiny game board.

You can't use the Stormtrooper targeter and then a guess weapon.  Read the listing for the targeter in the IG codex.

I thought you didn't have to guess ranges anymore in 4th edition anyway.  You just place blast marker and roll scatter.

yeah its just a place the blast marker then role D6 plus scatter if the model has a line of sight and 2D6 if you dont
