Hey Dakka people. I just finished assembling my centigors and I want to equip them with shields. Problem is I don't like the wimpy little buckler shield things they have on them. Any advice on how to convert them to use my leftover gor shields? thanks.

GW has a nice conversion in their Big Book Catalog on pg.364.

- You take off the metal arm at the elbow
- Replace it with a plastic Gor arm
- Then you can replace it with whatever shield you want.
- They use the large round wooden shield that comes with the Gors.

Looks very nice.  I'll take 10!

Thanks for the info. What should I use to cut off the metal arm? modeling saw?

That depends.  It looks like most of the arm is molded into the body.  In that case you could use the modelling saw to make a clean cut to separate the good from the bad. Then use an old pair of side cutters (you don't want to ruin your new, sharp ones!) to get most of the waste out but you may need to use a Dremel to finish up and make it clean.  It shouldn't matter too much because you're going to cover most of it with the new plastic arm and the shield.

I should say that I've not done this particular conversion before because of all the work I anticipate for it.  It shouldn't be too bad for a few but I want 20 of them!  I also want some with the shield and spear in the left hand and the right hand throwing an ax.  I wanted an all mounted Beastman army at one time but all of that metal work left me exhausted before I'd even started.  10 or 15 chariots and 20 centigors just to start with!

Have fun!

Sounds like I'll have to invest in some more and better modeling tools. I also considered an all centigor/chariot army, but I liked the idea of ambushing all those high and mighty empire cannons and handgunners from behind with beast herds. turning around to shoot counts as movement!!! hahaha. Plus I love the wargor models.
