I dunno what the hell this is but I love it. Maybe a preivew or already released not sure? I'm deifnately gonna convert one of these badboys into a Crisis Suit for my Tau army. Very nicely done, and really armoured core -esque.

Woh! I love this Appleseed stuff, fantastic looking sculpts I like the lack of bunny ears on this one. Great find. Now if only they were priced reasonably.

Actually Drake prices are fairly standard to GWs and the quality of the castings are spot on. Much better quality than most GW minis. I have a whole bunch of infantry sized troops and a few of these armoured suit ones. You do get a lot of metal in the kit and I got my last one via an online store in the UK for 15 - 18 pounds sterling. GW charge what 35 pounds for their all metal ven dreadnought? Also due to the nature of the game i can see why they kept prices around this region. In the rules its a small scale skirmish game so you don't need many troopers in a warband. However GW requires you to have large armies and still charge more than Corvus Belli (infinity's producer).

You need about 12 models per side for a typical game of Infinity. The models usually cost about Euros each, this is nearly £5 or $10 so they are not cheap. Very nice models, though, they look very paintable.
A lot of GW character models are £7-10.

You know, I've just invested some money into Infinity....now, I'm a Space marine whore and love everything about the WH40K universe, and while I don't want to uncork a bottle of GW whipping....these guys sculpt miniatures the way I only wish Citadel could. Price for price you get so much more of a quality miniature with Corvus then GW can muster. I bought a couple of sneak assassins from the Infinity range, and the minute I put them against the GW WH40K Imperial assassins I instantly forgot about painting the GW stuff in favour of the Infinity guys. What really pulls my chain, is that Infinity proves just what is possible in this scale, and aside from a shockingly few models, GW shows it has leagues of learning to do before it can compete.
GW has the fluff, it really does, but its only a matter of time before that "one trick pony" plays itself out, if it hasn't done so already, and these new guys will sweep the market.

I have a number of miniatures from the Nomads line. I think they are delicious.
The figures are very well human-proportioned and moderately detailed (we aren't reaching Rackham amounts of details here.) They seem to be trying some rather dynamic posing with many of their miniatures. Several of them are depicted running or jumping or excetra, which is very refreshing. There are no (that I recall) poses involving a mouth agape and fist being pumped which is a standard go-to pose. There are a few wonky poses in the line, one or two involving standing one one leg while sighting a sniper-rifle or HMG.
Overall, I find the quality of the miniatures to be top-notch. They represent believable proportions and clean crisp details. If I had any complaints it would be that the miniatures suffer from over-large weapons. A standard issue rifle is very large, proportionally, compared to a modern day counterpart. That's an issue that is present in many sci-fi, fantasy miniture lines, however.
There is a very Shadowrunesque feel to many of the minitures and if you're into that kind of black-ops, info-war, I highly recommend the miniatures. As for the game, I can speak less, I'm still getting into it.

My thing about the Infinity pricing is the same as my issues with PP's pricing schemes- paying more for a figure that has a larger points value is silly. I know GW does it, but GW is hardly a smart model for company-consumer relaitons in the wargaming industry. Maintaining price-points at or above GW levels, regardless of the percieved value of the miniature, is just furthering this trend toward making toy soldiers more and more of a luxury item and less of a gaming item. Of course playing game is a luxury, but I doubt I'd have a huge collection like I do now if they prices were this high in the mid nineties.

I thought the only character figure they charge you more for was the Warcasters? Or did I misinterpret an interview somewhere along the way?
Maybe it was character models, too...
I know this much: it's not points value otherwise the Harbinger and Lich Lord Terminus would cost the same amount of money. Terminus is 45, and the Harbinger is 35. The Avatar is only 30 bucks, and it's almost 1.5 times the points of a Harbinger, so it must be the Warcasters.

I think casters and "uniques" are more expensive than generics (so a behemoth costs more than a juggernaut), but the cheap stuff is often just as good, if not better. With PP, the startup costs were cheaper (battlebox of caster, some jacks and the startup rules). GW is clearly trying to emulate/capitalize on that with BFSP and BFM. How about Infinity? Do you get startup rules with a starter unit etc?

I have the same problem here that no one plays it in my area... But!!! I'm going to try and convert some friends soon. From the quick start rules that I've read it looks like a really interesting and rewarding game. I like the idea of the order points that you can use on any mini, and the basic mechanics work well. It has a lot more depth technically than necromunda. I'm going to order the english language rule book because its great value, is hardback, and is full of amazing artwork and background as well. It really is a beautifully produced work in itself.

It is an interesting game, and we have leagues running up here. Just be prepared, it is a different game. Army planning is all about the combos, and I know some people disagree with me, but it is like a card game. You set things up to get the combos and to get the win. Pulling off the correct powers at the correct times is part of the strategy. It plays out very much like a power game, with an escalation of power from game to game. It is all about designing the nastiest thing you can get away with to counter what your enemy uses. But that list you just made to whip list A is going to get stomped by a bunch of others. Definitely find a faction that is your play style. Our group has found that it doesn't seem to be as forgiving in that aspect. Some people just can't play some factions. Figure out your play style, get a starter box and play it out. The game changes tremendously with the inclusion of more models so look through the various forums for what models to get next. Some are next to worthless with some casters, and situations, so use the experiences of others to plan out your purchases. It can get pretty expensive, but planning out your purchases can help with that. Ooops, and I thought I was in a PP thread Infinity looks very cool, and reading through the game system it comes across as very detailed, but the figure prices are very very high. You don't need much of a model count, but to get into something and SEE if anyone likes to play or if it is any good, makes it a tougher prospect. Also, the game likes very dense city style terrain. Models in the open just die.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die. |

The big FLGS is Columbus is having a lot of success with Infinity, primarily because they have a staff person organzing intro games, etc. at the store. I wish it were bigger here in the Dayton area, though.
