Hey all. I've been feverishly painting to get my bugs done for the upcoming Vegas GT. So far so good, although I've had some criticism on the paint job. I know they look like "christmas" bugs, but I like the colors and the style. So there! Other than that, the bases will be finished after all the painting so some aren't too flattering just yet. My apologies for the pic quiality as its an old camera and I'm a bad photographer. Anyhoo, here's a few shots and a link if you want to see the rest. Enjoy!

Heya...since I'm in the process of converting my bugs right now as well (not at the painting stage yet), I was very interested in your pictures of the Carnifex and how you did it. Very interesting take on how to do the Twinlinked Devourers. How did you do the left handed strangler and mounting the devourer portions to it? I can post up some pictures of my left handed strangler if you're interested as well.

Since you're asking about the paintjob, I'm not a fan of the "Christmas" look, though the white has helped subdue it some. Perhaps it's the pictures, but the red and whitish areas look very "flat" and not highlighted or have any depth. Perhaps make the white areas look more like bone with some shading or feathering?

I also don't know how long it is until the Vegas GT, so if time is a concern right now I can understand why you went with more basic painting techniques for now.

Thanx for the response. The carnifex arms were originally supposed to look like biological mini-guns.....but too many failed attempts later and I decided to do something simple and not waste so many bitz. The basic arms are the new monstrous scything talon arms cut at the wrist. Then, take the barrels off of the new barbed strangler and attach to the stubs with a little green stuff. Take the barrels of the devourers and mount them on the top and bottom of the strangler barrels. Then, take the ammo feed arms from termagant fleshborers and attach them to the back of the devourer barrels with some green stuff to smooth the transition. Viola!

Yeah, there is subtle shading and such for the armor, but the pics don't show it well. I went with something simple since the GT is the first weekend of June. Afterwards, I'm going full-blown with these guys and see how they come out.  For now, I'm using the GT as an excuse to paint them as I've had them since the codex release and didn't do anything with them. Ahhh.......motivation; it's a harsh mistress.
