Seeing as how most of the Space Marines are not part of the Imperial Cult, they would not care if you named them a Saint or not. However, they could be named as a Saint, and the people could pray to them I guess.

I can still remember when a box of 30 Space Marines was $30.00. Now THAT'S old school! In fact, I started playing in the Rogue Trader days...yes, I am that old. Played Warhammer Fantasy for years before Rogue Trader even came out...

6,800 Pts. Ultramarines, 1,500 Pts. Deathwatch, 1,000 Pts. Black Templars, 1,000 Pts. Blood Ravens, 1,000 Pts. Emperors Children, 2,000 Pts. Word Bearers, 3,500 Pts. Eldar (Alaitoc or Biel-tan), 2,000 Pts. Tau, 2,000 Pts. Sisters of Battle, 999 Pts. of Thousand Sons, 1,000 Points Dark Eldar, 1,000 Points Adeptus Arbites, 1,000 Points Freebooters, 1,000 Points "Last Chancers", 1,000 Points Tyranids, 1,000 Points Necrons

2,500 Pts. Brotherhood, 2,000 Pts. Undead, 2,000 Pts. Sylvan Kin Elves, 2,000 Pts. Empire of Dust, 3,000 Pts. Orcs with Goblin Allies

5 Necromunda Gangs, 10 Mordheim Warbands, and 5 Frostgrave warbands

Declared by whom?

The ecclesiarcy may use "saints", but space marines are not "allied" to them.

So space marines may be venerated by the citizens. I doubt this turns into a "promotion" to saint.

OTOH the reason to leave was for some primarchs to be seen as semi-god and i can imagine similar problems occuring
if a story is becoming a legend and the "hero" gets enlarged to a true "god of war",which could happen to space marines.
Superior abilities may lead to a false picture of the servants of the emperor and his "angels of death" may be seen as
exactly this: Angels sent by the god-emperor to smite humanitys foes.
Enough simple minded creatures on the scene and what is a military operation ends up with statues of the space marines
as "Saints".

No, they can't be sainted, but they can be made into a hero of the empire, and have a banner made for them. the banner would then be displayed at the path to the throne.

Buy Imperial War Bonds!!!
I play: 30,000+ points and growing
: 5,000+ points
: 10,000+ points
: I'll never tell...

They probably do such rediculously bada$$ things so regularly that sainting Space Marines would become tedious in the extreme so they just quit and only venerate the most extreme cases, which is almost never.

Dakka. You need more of it. No exceptions.

What are you talking about? They're Space Marines, which are heroic. They need to be able to do all the heroic stuff. They fight aliens and don't afraid of anything. -Orkeosarus

Im sure it can happen. Like others have said a SM would care very little for that title. Unless they are feeling the taint of chaos. Then OTOH that could end badly. But also Im sure Ive just wrote the starting of many "Chaos Lords" asentions and whatnot
