So I'm looking to maybe field a night goblin army, mostly for laughs, but I'd like it to be at least passably effective

What is the best unit size for standard, non archer infantry? 

I'm tempted to go with units of 40 so they can take beating, but I'm partial to units of 20 so i can gang up on units....

some thoughts?
