I posted about this a while back (but nobody believed me...).  It seems official that Mike cut his ties w/ PP.

Yeah, yeah.

I posted that he was leaving back in March after a friend heard it at a gaming convention in Las Vegas. When I posted that, everyone jumped on me saying that it wasn't true and that PP was saying he hadn't left. This shows that PP was pretty much lying about that.

Ozymandias, you have convinced me that PP is the root of all evil. And everything I buy from them is food out of Kirby's children's mouths. I shall immediately go buy a Dark Angels army. I shall also buy a helmet since it would appear my skull is too soft to protect my brain anymore.

hmmm, maybe they will find some who can sculpt a model in proportion, with a sword edge that looks like it can cut rather than do blunt force trauma and hopefully arrange for them to be cast in such a way that I don't need shares in the company that produces Kneadite.

Sorry, but I have never like PP models - they are adequate at best with a few good ones. I am paint mostly rather than game and buy models from many gaming systems I don't play - I don't however have a single PP model because not one of them gets beyond the meh! thought.

And anyone who says *female dog*es and moans that GW is overpriced and plays PP is a hypocrite.

2014 will be the year of zero GW purchases. Kneadite instead of GS, no paints or models. 2014 will be the year I finally make the move to military models and away from miniature games.

Ditto. I talked to someone that was working in the PP warehouse and he told me the story. I posted something on Warseer about it and got sort of shouted down at the time, based on Matt Wilson's "Everything is fine, perfectly fine, dammit, I said we were all just FINE" post.

Wow, I post that PP lied about something and get jumped on immediately by the PP fanbois. To quote Triggerbaby:

"I heard that GW set a whole box of orphans on fire on the steps of a church.

Then Privateer Press came along and put out the fire with his own blood and then found homes for all the orphans and gave them all nega-cancer* for Christmas.

*nega-cancer is the highly expensive but helpful opposite of cancer. If cancer and nega-cancer collide, they cancel each other out in a shower of delicous candy."

Classic.

Overpriced is a relative term. Someone who wants to game who doesn't have any Warmachine
players in the area will feel like Warmachine is overpriced. Someone who doesn't like the GW
stuff, GW sized armies, etc. will feel that GW is overpriced.

Another reply post about another thread turning into a GW vs Privateer bash!  Quick, someone make the typical reply post about the reply post about the thread turning into a GW vs Privateer bash!

Seriously, they are both good.

40K:  Fluff, range of models, available conversions, more customization

Warmachine:  Rules (2d6 adds alot), some truly great models (Some really bad ones too).

Warmachine needs custom warcasters, some more unit options (custom jacks please!)....and to make jacks better overall.

40K needs to redo it's entire rule system. I'm quite happy with their models.

Someone give me Warmchine rules with Confrontation/40k miniatures and warhammer fluff now please.  Thanks!

Posting your "I told you so" thread didn't have anything to do with it I'm sure. So what exactly did they do to you? Plug your toilet? Impregnate your cat? Or are you just one of the guys that gets riled when anything upsets the "Precious"?

What does any of this have to do with the fact that they had a baby and moved back
to the UK? I'm sure we'll hear something from them sooner or later.

It was funny reading the PP boards when the news broke. People acted like they
were betrayed.

Ummmm, there was no lying involved. As reported at TGN back on May 17th (with Matt Wilson of PP piping in):

Mike’s H1-B work visa expired in April of this year. About 18 months ago we discussed whether or not he should attempt to navigate the expensive and time consuming process of citizenship or return to the UK. Because he and Aly had hopes of starting a family before too long and wished to raise children near family in England, they decided that when the visa expired they would return home.

We are pleased to say that in January, Mike and Aly brought Cal McVey into the world (sure to be a phenomenon of miniatures sculpting and painting in a few years) right on schedule and commenced plans to relocate. We will continue our relationship with the McVey’s while they’re on the other side of the world and once things settle down for them, hope to see their talents present in future Privateer products.

Meanwhile, staff painter Ron Kruzie has assumed the position of Studio Director. Since October, Ron has trained closely with Mike to take on this important role and is already having an excellent and positive effect on the work the studio is doing, expanding both our painting and sculpting resources, as you might have seen with the many HORDES: Evolution releases we’ve been previewing.

I won't claim one way or the other what people said here, but PP is not Lying. Though hey, it's the internet, have a ball.

Oh, no doubt.  Any fans of GW sculpting are never critical.  That's why Lemartes sells so well, and is considered the best early 3rd edition metal.  They simply don't have the critical faculty to discern between good sculpts and bad.  Only those who agree that GW is the "devil" are TRULY unbiased.

They did lie because Milton said so!  He is going to burn down the PP office for moveing his desk back and a because Press Ganger took his swingline stapler that does not bind.

*sigh* We're bordering on closed thread here.

I'm a HUGE fan of many GW sculptors- Nelson, Diaz, Jes and Simon, but I'm hardly "not critical".

And anyone who likes GW but abhors PP, or vica versa, needs to take a step back and think about the situation. In a macroscopic sense these companies are identical. In a microscopic sense they're still pretty damn similar.

This is as slowed as those sports fans who loathe the team from a near-by city and fret over how stupid/blind the fans of that team are.

The sports team from my geographical area is far superior to the one from a different geographical area and as a result the people from other geographical areas who believe the sports team from their geographical area is superior to the one from my geographical area are rather unintelligent (unlike myself and others who agree with me)!! How is that slowed exactly? I posit not at all! That's how!!

I never said I hated PP. I am a little amused as they don't seem to be knight in shining armor slaying the big bad GW dragon all the fanboys make them out to be.

Here is the quote from fluffy's post: "Mike cut his ties with the company back in the beginning of march (despite what PP are leading people to believe over on their main boards)." Sounds like PP was lying to me.

Call me a Privateer Fan Boy (I believe we are collectively known as Deck Swabs) because I am a fan of the models, the game, and the fiction.

However, I do think there was something more to the departure of both Snoddy and McVey than the PP boards would have us believe.

From what I understand, where Matt Wilson goes, so goes drama.  I don't think he is a very easy man to work with and I think he intends to keep control of the focus and direction of the company.
