Maybe he will sculpt some more Striking Scorpions or another Space Marine Chaplain.   Then all the GW fanboys can say how great the Miniatures are compared to PP, Rackham and Reaper.

I would just love to see more of his paintings, and those kick ass full page dioramas he used to do.

But, I do tend to love GW minis, I'm not bashing the others though.

Is it public knowledge why he left GW?

I still love his dioramas: Wood Elves, Dark Angels, Warhammer Quest, and most of all Emperor vs. Horus.

Seriously though, I'm moving this to discussions because it's crossed the line from news/rumours into craziness, but there's still relevent discussion that warents leaving it open.

No need to prove me wrong though.

That is the only line in this thread or in the TGN article that is a quote from an actual statement by a Privateer Press representative on the future status of the McVeys working for Privateer Press.

I continue to fail to see how you've been lied to by Privateer Press. If you would be kind enough to enlighten me as to exactly how you have been slighted, I'd be very grateful. I'm sure we all would love to hear the full account. Such a tale is destined to be a monument of fantastic proportions and will undoubtedly stand for all eternity, ne'r to be undone even by the sands of time. You are Ozymandias after all.

Aly mentions that PP was telling people otherwise on their main boards. It was in their forums they were saying he was still there. Hell, back when I posted about this in March (either here or Warseer, I can't remember) people told me that I was wrong because over on the PP forums they said he was still there.

Aly said they left in March, "despite what PP are leading people to believe over on their main boards." This is from Aly McVey. How is telling people he's still with the company when he's not, not a lie?

Could you imagine if GW said Andy Chambers still worked there when he had moved on.  These forums would be howling for Kirby's blood.

I never said I hated PP. I am a little amused as they don't seem to be knight in shining armor slaying the big bad GW dragon all the fanboys make them out to be.

I read the above quote on CMON, before. For some reason the goofy site is down. It is a well known fact on the PP boards (where she was PPS_Fluffy) and on the CMON boards that Fluffy is Ally McVey. In her post she did seem to imply, in her curtness, that she was at least disenchanted with Privateer Press.

Ya know, you guys are shating on Ozy but he does have a point. PP were denying Mike and Aly even left and then there late in coming explaination appears to be in question. I mean, it's kinda hard to swallow in the first place then Aly posts on CMON curtly refuting what PP is saying. ANyways well probably never really know, much like the leavings of Andy C and others from GW.

Which begs the question, has PP's creative direction been taken over by the bean counters? Maybe I'm just paranoid.

It's common practice not to announce that people are leaving or to give details.

Saying "So and so is leaving the company for family reasons and we hope to work with them again in the future." seems a lot more professional than airing whatever dispute it was between the parties in public.

Okay I found out the truth from a guy on another website, but he was certain this is what happened.

Apparently, after GW tried to destroy the PP head office with a swarm of Robotic Zombie Penguins. In response Matt Wilson ordered Mike McVey be turned into a brainwashed assassin and sent to kill Tom Kirby. But at the last minute PP realized that Kirby would do more damage to GW than they ever could. So to stop McVey, who by this time was deep undercover as Gav Thrope's blankey waiting for his chance to strike. They set off the small explosive at the base of his skull. Gav was slightly singed in the explosion, but it did give him a cool idea for the New Dark Eldar codex.

Poor Mike, RIP buddy.

Just imagine if it was GW doing this and not PP. The torches would be passed and a mob would be formed. But because it is PP, its written off as not a big deal.

Again, it comes down to how you deal with your customer base.

PP has for the most part, treated them well and been responsive.

GW has a poor track record.

PP has a bit of goodwill to burn.....GW has burned its bridges.

All very true, but it always seemed like Mike McVey was the guy behind that great customer service (or atleast he was the face-man of the company for so long).

Also, GW started burning bridges big time about the same time they let Andy Chambers go (IMHO). I'm just hoping that PP isn't following suit.

Only time will tell what PP will do.

We already know what GW does. They have to climb up to get support.

Uhm and no, GW's burned bridges with its fans LONG before that.

Mr. McVey just needs to wait until Bush signs the Foreign Invader Come On In! Bill into law and then he could get one of those cool visa's because of his skills as a sculptor of small metally things.

If you were reading the PP boards at the time, it's pretty obvious why Ozymandias made the statement that PP lied. Rumors were going around that Mike Mcvey had left. On april 18th, Matt comes out and posts that all is well and good, and Mike is still at the company. Then the Mcveys post that they have parted ways with PP as of the first of March.

So...either Matt wasn't telling the truth....or sneaky McVeys left, but didn't tell Matt....or the Mcveys aren't telling the truth about having left.

Wha?  I for one don't give a rat's ass about PP and their dealings with Mike McVey - not because I love PP but because PP didn't make Thousand Sons suck.

I think that's a bit nearsighted.

GW has a tremendous track record with it's customers.  It's faltered a bit in the last few years.  But over it's lifetime:

White Dwarf (which had some great years of hobby support), bitz service, mail order, internet availability (pretty quickly), Forge World, tourneys, Games Days - all pioneered through GW efforts.  Most of the R&D for plastics has come out of their pockets.  They are still the manufacturing technology forerunner in the hobby.  No one else is even close.

They've had some failings of late, but every other fantasy wargame company is selling to the customer base GW built.  GW has an excellent long term track record of support.  Their rules support has never been great (though their product support has always been exceptional).

Let's not ignore their past in frustration with their current screw-ups.  It's myopic.

You seem to forget their screw ups prior....killing internet sales, squats, lying and many many others...removal of specialist games to their own store.

There are alot more than your saying...
