Rampaging Carnifex

Mandeville, Louisiana

So I am part of a summer, risk-style campaign going on and my first opponent happens to be a nid player.  Being a bug player myself, I put together a list(considering what I actually own) and plan to ake him on with it soon.  Please, rip it apart.

My list

Flyrant with Flesh Hooks, 2xScytals, Implant attack, I and WS adrenals, wings, toxin sacs

Walk-rant with Scytals, venom cannon, ES, WS Adrenal, Extended Carapace(maybe flesh hooks, list not in front of me.)

2X Gunfexes with ES, VC and Barbed Strangler, Extra Wound.

4 Warriors with ES, toxin sacs, extended carapace and twin-linked devourers

18 Hormagaunts

20 Spine Gaunts

2X 10 Genestealers with Extended Carapace.

His list

Walk-rant with Venom cannon , flesh hooks, and quite alot of other biomorphs, 2 guards

Decked out Broodlord with all the fixins(implant attack for the face mutation) and a full retinue(plain)

12 Genestealers with extended carapace, scytals, and toxin sacs

20 + termagants

1 Gunfex with VC, BS, enhanced senses and extended carapare, extra wound

3 Zoanthropes with warp blast and synapse.

Im not sure what his tactics will be, but my plan will be to make a gunline formation, in elevated cover when possible, with the cc elements behind the cover to come out at the last minute to take charges against his hopefully depleted units.  My Flyrant will engage his MC's.  I hope that the twin devourere warriors will thin the gaunts, but I guess I'll see.

Any help or suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Dakka. You need more of it. No exceptions.

What are you talking about? They're Space Marines, which are heroic. They need to be able to do all the heroic stuff. They fight aliens and don't afraid of anything. -Orkeosarus

Man it is a real shame you don't have any TMCs with Devourers because if you did you would pretty much automatically win the game.

For example, if your flying Tyrant had x2 TL Devourers he could decimate pretty much any unit on the other side in a single round of shooting. A Dakkfex would be ideal too.

That said, the fact that he's taken a Broodlord gives you a real good chance to win (just make sure you nuke that unit before it gets near you).

The Zoanthropes are going to be an issue since they can hit your MCs with AP2 or 3 shots and you don't have any AP2/3 firepower in return.

Whatever you do, don't waste your Venom Cannon/Barbed Strangler shots on his Monstrous Creatures. Take out the Genestealers, Broodlord and Termagaunts with firepower first if at all possible. Use the Hormagaunts to tie up/kill his Zoanthropes. Your flying Tyrant should aim to kill Zoanthropes and the Carnifex but don't commit if he still has Genestealers or the Tyrant Guard unit waiting in reserve to counter-charge you.

Basically you can outshoot him when it comes to killing the small stuff, but he can outshoot you when it comes to shooting the big stuff (thanks to the Zoeys). So try to flush out the small stuff, kill it with shooting and then charge the rest starting with the Zoeys, then the Carnifex and finally the Tyrant Guard unit.
