So, after coming across a store that sells stuff at more affordable prices, I'm considering re-entering 40k (45 cnd per troop choice was, unfortunately, too rich for my blood)

Here's a necron list I've always wanted just before GW went crazy with their prices

Necron lord w/warscythe, resurection orb, veil of darkness -210pts

5 flayed  ones -90pts

4 squads of 10 Necron Warriors -720 pts

2 squads of 3 destroyers -300pts
1 squad of 3 wraiths -123 pts

1 squad of 3 heavy destroyers -195pts
1 tomb spider -55pts

Alternatively I could get rid of the flayed ones, tomb spider, and necron lord and trade it all in for the nightbringer just cause he's so bad@$$

Thoughts, critics, adjustments welcome
Please be aware that I have never seen 4th edition rulebook and this was meant to be a 3rd edition 1700pts tourny army. If there's some massive change in the new edition that would cast my list to the retardance category, please enlighten me

As listed army is 1693pts, using the nightbringer alternative setup it is 1698pts

How many pts are tourny armies supposed to be (in general) nowadays?

Not that im an expert, but i would probably drop the flayed ones and the wraiths(marines with inv get shot in such small numbers) and get some immortals instead. you can even convert them from normal necron warriors i think

If you're going to use that many Destroyers I would highly recommend taking two Lords, one on a Destroyer body so he can tool around with the Destroyers and provide Rez Orb protection from S10 shooting attacks and CC attacks that ignore armor save.

I agree that you should dump the Flayed ones and Tomb Spyder. A single wraith can be taken as a cheap unit on its own that allows you to capture objectives, but taking a full squad of Wraiths is expensive and they really can only kill very specific enemy unit types.

You should also split up your Heavy Destroyers as much as possible between different units, that way any battery of AT fire (like Broadsides or Devestator squads) can only possibly kill one Heavy Destroyer a turn. Just keep them near each other and any WBBs mean they can join the other Heavy Destroyer.

You should definitely take Immortals and less Warriors. Immortals are just *better* than warriors on a point-by-point basis.
