Here are some pics of the Krieg Quartermaster from GD Germany that I found floating around the net.

Quartermaster

Med Servitor

Scribe Cherubium

Fallen Kreigsman

Very cool minis but to me the Quartermaster seems more like a Commissar than a medic. I'll be using the seige army list but I don't want to waste a HQ slot just for a Glorified Medic. So I'll most likely convert this and use it as a Commissar.

He's very much in a "its for your own good" pose, drawing that las pistol. And the skull iconography is very much more Commissar like and fits better with that already established background.

This Quaretmaster concept is interesting but I don't think the artistic approach was done correctly. I was expecting a butcher or a crude barber surgeon with a big apron and multiple saws, needles etc.

This guy looks too smart and regal and officer like. Not like a guy who would scavenge no mans land for equipment and corpses....

But hey thats just my opinion.

I suspect that the pose is intended more as "The regiment needs your boots more than you do, soldier"...

He's a Quartermaster, after all. If there's one thing a QM has to know how to do, it's scrounge when supplies are short.

Hehe... Sadly it seems so from the look of the guardsman.

I'm sorry, but what GW figures are you talking about? I seem to have a gaping hole in my memory somewhere. That or you guys are looking backward through rose colored glasses.

There might have been some super cool models in the past but the over all quality of GW models have improved.

That is a nice Quartermaster and his rules are not bad either. I just wish there another way to get a roming medic.

The quartermaster isn't a surgeon at all.  His job is to maintain an inventory of arms and equipment as well as direct the dispensement of said items.

A quartermaster is a retired veteran that's taken on an administrative role, or failing that, an administrator assigned from Terran or Imperial Navel corps.

What I've heard suggests that the Quartermaster is in fact a Medic - the name refers to the Krieg's opinion of human life. A tool, nothing more.

I have the IA:5 book but not at work.

He is a medic. You get his ability to any unit that is within X of him or his servators. I'll check to see if he take up a FOS when I get home. He's also pretty cheap to take: less than 100 pts.

Serves me right for now owning that book.

It's funny though, the model itself screams traditional quartermaster definiton.

Well who can blame you? The thing costs $80+ bucks!

Ok, you can take 1 Quartermaster and he comes with up to 4 servators. Maxed out with servators (who can take no weapon upgrades) your still paying less than 80pts. He does get officier equipment so add as you will. Anyone who is within 2" of him or his servators gets to ignore the first failed armor save. he as a medikit and is an IC if he has no retinue (see: servators). he's not burly.
