She looks good. A bit colorful for my taste, but that fits Malifaux figs well. This reminds me to get me resurrectionists painted.

Looking forward for your next figs.

Just a progress post. I've been working on my Firestorm Armada Sorylians, finishing up the frigates from before and starting the escorts. The frigates I painted with my normal care and played with lighting on 3 of them, but for the escorts I decided that mass production may be the way to go. So far they had metals painted and in the pic the wash is still fresh. I plan on blocking the red and blue next, and maybe washing them in their respective washes, then edge highlight. (I didn't take a pic, but the other 3 frigates I tried actual source lighting, but the edge highlight looks a lot cleaner. The source lighting was too garish, maybe if I had a better blending or layering technique...)

Better looking Frigates

These be escorts.

Also, I've sprayed the bases I'm going to use for the guild guys I've just finsihed up, so they'll all be done soon!

On a random note, anyone in the Newbury, berkshire area play Malifaux or Firestorm?

Opps, 2 week gap...
I was busy, seriously.
School has been... hectic. I'm taking a break from studying for exams so here are some quick happy pics.

1) I got an awesome random gift from back home, in the style of the interwebs, "We heard you like dice, so we put dice in yo' dice"

2) Escorts done, 2 quick happy pics, flash and no flash

I'll probably do the bases for Lady J, The Judge, The Scales and the convict since that's all they need to be done, then I'll tackle my cruisers!

ps. Exams are annoying and school gets in the way of important things like painting.

So I used to be really good at daily updates... like a year and a half ago...

What have I done in the last 3 weeks you ask?

Went to France for the first time, visited Juno Beach and Vimmy Ridge. Finished another chunk of school, the last lectures. Tomorrow starts group projects, then research skills and the Thesis... well, anyway, that's not what you all care about...

What have I done gaming-wise in the last 3 weeks you ask?

I've painted some stuff. Bases for all the guild stuff that was waiting for bases. A halberd heavy cruiser for sorylians in Firestorm Armada. Started the skyhammer cruisers today. Sealed the guild guys and the sorylian stuff I had done. Did a practise game of 1000pts sorylians vs relthoza. 1000pts looks cool on the table and that's kinda the drive on painting right now. Tried to 'prime' some relthoza white, and got really frustrated 'cause my primer was all messed up and only spraying propellant... until I realized I was trying to 'prime' with my sealer... Looked into

Sorylians so far.

Two days in a row... wow

not much excitement, got the red base on top of the brown base from yesterday. Got a big assignment today that'll keep me busy for next 2 weeks. We'll see how much I get to do in that time.

Went for different, semi-random red panels. I like the idea of each ship being part of the greater fleet, but also a little unique. Hopefully more to follow.

I like the random panels.

Hope to see more of these soon.

All I got done was the edge highlighting of the red. Next is the metal, ink, highlight, highlight, then the blue, blue highlight, blue edge highlight. Or something like that.

I think the real lighting is making it look better than it really is... oh well, can't complain

So yeah. Way too long without an update. Didn't do much painting. But life has been exciting. I finished a huge group project thing, have started my thesis for my masters, flew home for a mate's wedding, visited stonehenge, all sorts of fun stuff. Speaking of fun stuff, the cruisers got completed, and I'm tackling the battleship now. You can see it in the background of a couple of these shots. All sprayed a lot of stuff. I think I'll go back to Malifaux after the ships are done. anyway, pics or it didn't happen.

oh yeah, I lost my tripod, so sorry for the bad pictures

Little update, did the red on the battleship, still need to edge highlight, than the blue, but it's coming along. I'll probably switch to Malifaux after this, I'm not enjoying painting these guys as much as I like painting Malifaux stuff. Plus, with gen con around the corner, new goodies are going to be coming out. I'm excited.

Thesis is rolling along. 7500 words done, half way there!

Mostly just pictures of whats on my desk. Sorry for the quality.

So I postponed finishing the battleship 'cause I think I was dreading working on it, and I went with something I looked forward to painting. Malifaux Guild Guards. I also got in my Outcast Misaki proxy, Kujaku Hime from Anima Tactics. I also played with washes and inks on some relthoza stuff. All in the pics there.

Wow, were did all this come from?

bust last few days, getting some stress out by painting. Here's the results! Also, found camera charger and tripod.

This is spilt chestnut ink, a finite resources. I was quite upset.

Well, that's all for not folks. Can't say when I'll be doing this again, but I hope there's a couple more before I head back to my side of the Atlantic.

Hawtness. Lots of fun to paint. Gold was a pain and required me mixing in a base non-metallic to the gold to get good flow and coverage. Totally a pain but Lucius rocks.

Also, thesis at 10 000 words. Still lots to write, *bang head*

SPILT chestnut ink. AHHHHHHH. horrible. of all the inks that was the one that i always seem to find uses for. People ask me how i got my dreads multi melta to look the way that it does or how i did the rust streaks. Chestnut ink. ON the plus side i have artist freinds who told me that the inks at Michaels hobby would probably work the same. you might try those when your inks stash runs dry.

Truely though i feel your pain.

It was quite upsetting to see The stuff is brilliant, honestly. Got help years ago from the FLGS owner on how to paint horses easily and have found 101 uses for it since. I actually grabbed a Coat d'Armes pot a while ago since they were the makers of the old inks anyways. But I fear the day it runs out. I'll check out the Michaels stuff so.

I'm getting back into it. I've been playing Malifaux on and off since October and I've been loving it. Viktorias' Vicious Vixens have been doing very well and the guild hasn't been too shabby either. Getting painting again. I finished my guild sergeant but my camera died so there's only the one picture of Misaki.

Also, I'm looking for a Hamelin (non-master) stand in. I'm liking
or +some sort of dog bitz piece. opinions?

The alt-Misaki looks good, the skin on the legs and face are especially great.

A few months and what do I have to show for it?

First I got some laser cut MDF terrain from three stores, I have finished my first one and I'll show it off and give a little bit of my impressions. Demo Laser-Cut Designs 28mm Modular Factory.

Overall... not bad. $50 and you get a half decent piece of terrain. My overall tone though is that it just isn't that great. I had some warping problems after using some watery glue to flock the rough which really surprised me. The joints aren't subtle and are quite lose allowing problems of squaring corners to be made. I've played with another companies work and the difference of detail and fit is very apparent. The design is very basic and doesn't have any surface detail. The joints are fairly obvious and, though I tried to hide it with the paint job, I realized later that a strip of card or plasticard would've done a better job and quite easily. I also found out that DLCD sells sets that cover the edge joints with a laser cut stone facade. They really should've included another sheet of card for this in the factory, especially at this price. Overall though, it works, looks pretty good and I look forward to playing on it.

What else you ask? You don't think that was enough to keep me busy? Well, it pretty much was... however, since yer so persistent, here's what's currently on the table.

Very angry and gritty von schill

A poorly shaded Misaki/Kujakihime

That's it for now. Hopefully it keeps coming. I'll be out of town in March but I plan on taking my stuff with me to work on.

So, Its been awhile. I haven't done a lot of painting but have played a bunch. With an upcoming tournament and my girlfriend picking up a crew, I'm back into it for now. Got happy seppuku base stamps and we are trying those out.

Guild Hounds

Going to do two in tawny and two in gray. This will match the two sets of guards I have.

Lady Justice, Avatar of Balance

Hamelin (Reaper Bard Proxy)

I had a lot of fun building this. The dog and snails are making a line following here in a circle around the base.

Guild Guards

I'm doing these two with gold trim to differentiate them from the ones I already have. So the Gold Guards and the Silver Guards

Lastly, my girlfriends crew.

Well that stuff is quite cool (even though it is unpainted).
The proxy is a very good conversion guess it woundn't of mattered
witch one you chose.
Can't wait to see them painted fully good luck
