Latest messing about I usually find I've got enough bits knocking around to make 80% of half a dozen ideas I have, and then I have to order bits for the rest. What that tends to mean is there's quite a while of nothing and then everything comes at once when the bits order arrives this one's been waiting for ages!

I know that Charlemagnes will be a sort of gene-engineered warhorse that Knight Worlders use. Inspired by the kickass weird gene-engineered horses that the Kriegers have with feet rather than hooves. In a galaxy so large, old and strange it seems like a missed opportunity to just have normal horses

I'll give that Gene Wolfe book a read might provide some inspiration!

Also, I thought I'd point out one of the inspirations for this (and make a really good book recommendation at the same time). There's a duology of sci-fi books by Peter F Hamilton called the Commonwealth Saga. Really awesome books

In the latter of the two (Judas Unchained), there's a group of humans called 'Barsoomians' (again, another inspiration) who have spent their time perfecting genetic engineering, and provide one of the factions with these 'roided up vicious warhorses the size of Rhinos called 'Charlemagnes'. Hence this guy!

They've also got some kickass giant bird/dinosaur things called King Eagles which would be sweet to make too, but that's a little aside

Well, those are delightfully weird. They look like a more aggressive version of the seeks guys from Chronicles of Riddick. The dudes with the lens faces that were led around with a Playstation controller.

Those conversions are so brilliant. Those look properly 40k! The wild, interesting 40k. Especially the Myrmidon guys and the guy with the knight's helmet. But also all the other stuff really. Keep it up!

Yeah Skinks bodies, Skaven heads (and one arm), GS Cults shotgun, Kroot armour plate (dead useful those bits) and a variety of Ad Mech gubbinz. Oh, and the tail from Necron Lychguard

Kestrel's thread is actually what inspired all of this I was perfectly content chipping away at Eldar...then I suddenly got very jealous of the sheer variety of Kestrel's world so I thought I'd have a go myself
