A whole week might be a bit much, but as the 30th is a friday, we could probably sneak in an extra weekend. I’m not sure if you are joking, but honestly, I don’t want to see people rush or fail to make this one, so I’m just going to go ahead and bump this out to ending Sunday the 2nd at midnight eastern. Doing it now to prevent people from stressing and allow them to adjust.

Unless you are the kind of person who needs that deadline to get you moving. In which case, don’t read this until Friday night, and then you can have the extra time. But not until you’ve already had one dose of panic driven progress.

Well, that is a MAJOR relief! I was struggling to see how I would be done by Friday. Thankyou!

Mostly, on my phone.

Paradigms: The Queens of the Adriatic... well, two of them facing off for the fate of Venice, plus a gondola and posts.

The Queen of Thieves has been converted to add smoke bombs, meaning she's actually more useful in game that just (just!) an alt-sculpt of the Capo

The Queen of the Cult of Charybdis

Similarly, with the release of the new Secret Societies summer campaign, she fits neatly as a leader for this.

I continue to be delighted by how well out garden table and wall work 😜

You can't have a Venetian scene without a gondola, after all. The other scenery is there simply for atmosphere, as it was started last month (even thought not finished till this).

Originally wanted to do these guys last year already, but never got beyond the base coat at the time.

Much better progress this time around. Still missing some highlights and the bases, but I should get it done till next weekend.

Side note:
(Wouldn't mind taking a sledge hammer to the wrists of the designer who came up with an idea of having a single model with complex undecuts that have to be assembled from 4 pieces that all have to align perfectly, while the glue is drying, all at once)
Ether suffer the undecuts of fully assembled and gapfilled model, or suffer the gaps and the damaging gluing process of the painted pieces, because one thin layer of primer is enough to jam the pin through the hole connection. I almost ruined the Rogue Trader character because the pin got stuck halfway with the glue applied, had to quickly wrap the model in a sock and use pliers to force the pieces together before the super glue garbed on and would of forced me to cut the model apart. will check later if any damage has been done.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I gave up on the idea of painting pieces separately, rather suffer the undercuts ...

Repairs underway.

In hindsight - Next time pick the color scheme to match the color of the gap filler.

Sanding

Could of been worse!
LET THIS BE AN ENCOURAGMENT for all, that the gaps can be filled sanded and painted over on a finished model, and it will be ok!

Smooth sailing after... nope. Repairs needed for the light box. https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/790851.page

VICTORY at last! I have found my old camera! This 10 year old camera takes better pictures than my smart phone.

The large gaps on the Navigator character are because of the glue setting in before the pieces got forced closed all the way. I used (Tamiya extra thin cement) and the pin, like a piston, must of scraped the primer, jammed and set on the last 2mm.

A Celebration of Orkyness

It’s not a particularly neat or technically proficient paint job but I’m nevertheless glad to have this one done and over the line in time.

Lots of fun to build and bring to life. I like to think it’s everything a mekkanical celebration of orkdom should be. Stompy, Killy, dead flash and propa Orky. Any aspiring Bad Moons Mek would be proud to see this beast stomp out of his mekshop and into da Waaagh!!!

I have a long way to go yet, but some progress has been made. Did an orange, red, and blue highlight set up to mark out where the glow from the fireplace would be. Then, went back in a redid the whole face. I have a little bit more blending on the legs to do, but the skin is just about done.

DONE! (at least for now)

These are fun models to have and to paint, yet with surprisingly convoluted and difficult assembly design.
My final failure in ether type of lights, camera settings, or brains turned out the pictures with a yellow tint... (Blue-erier the background, the closer to real colors)

Glad to be able to participate this round.

I felt so confident when I uploaded by entry and seeing some of you guy's finished (and some not even finished yet) pics makes me feel almost demotivated.. the bar is just way higher than my work or camera could possibly hit. ;(

Don’t let that stop you. All those great entries started somewhere. Take it as a challenge and a goal. Keep at it and one day that will be you.

Wait, is that set of pics from Mothsniper legal? I ask because there have been lots of times where I've wanted to take multiple shots of multiple minis, but I felt I had to restrict myself to six pics total...

Not going to have anything for this month and I hate myself for missing out on the centenary. I've just had no motivation to paint and have spent most of the month building a heresy Raven Guard army and doing a load of conversions.

You are correct. Sorry, been distracted lately; meant to comment earlier.

@Mothsniper - composite pictures count all the individual shots, so you are just a -tad- over the 6 photo limit. You could take group shots, or just select the best pic of each individual.

@CancelledApocalypse shame to miss out. How about something small, just to have your name on the rolls? Objective marker? Or just a lone marine. Any progress is good progress. Still have a little time to get some paint down.

Hmmm, I'll see what I can do... I might have a Raven Guard moritat I could paint up quickly...

Raven guard (and tau stealthsuits, lictors, alpha legion) are easy to paint due to how stealthy they are. It’s all in the base.

Oh don't worry I'll never stop
Just bought two big boxes of new lights from the photography store aswell, one a big LED ring light with standard and full on controlboard for light temperature levels and the other a double rectangular light that can be moved around whatever you're trying to shoot (best way to describe it) (it looks a bit like two rectangular alien eyes on tubes)

Maybe demotivating is the wrong word, I mean it rather as vanishing out of the competition -_-

Out of curiosity, when can we expect next month's poll. We're kind of running out of month.

Um, tonight after work? Sorry about that. I remembered to ask for ideas, but totally spaced on getting the poll up.

Feel free to remind me of things like this. I don’t mind.

Got it to a stage I'm reasonably pleased with so happy to call this my finished entry. I had a look through the themes of the past challenges and I picked April '22 - Reborn and Remade. The Squats are born anew and what better way to celebrate that fact with something that combines the old landtrain with the new land fortress.

Praise be to þunorslieht! The hammer of the ancestors.

Glad I got that finished before I went on holiday. Still managed a bit of time to build some space marines from the Leviathan box.

Good luck everyone, some superb entries as always.

Fun is always the main thing here, and this sounds like the perfect Orky project

Those models look great @Mothsniper (just combine the photos)

Go on @CancelledApocalypse, just get that one model in, you can do it!

Really impressed with the effort that's gone in to everyones entries so far

Still WIP but the end is in sight. Needs a few more passes with the camo, and a lot of details. But it always feels good when things are not white. As I prime everything white, when I see a lot of it on the model it just feels like I have forever to go.

I'm not sure I can, I've had no time to paint today, other than very quickly priming a few models, so I've got two days to get a model done... or four if we're actually getting a weekend extension. Hmmm... I'll have to see tomorrow what I can do.

@Nevelon Ooh, nice camo! And on eldar rangers, too! Nice!

Well, she's about 90% of what I would want her to be, but I have no more time for hobby. I'm heading out of town tomorrow, and still have to finish packing.
I don't have time to set up a camera or anything either, so I think these phone shots will have to do as final pictures for the competition.

To bear the standard is to be everything the company stands for. To hold within oneself the entirety of its culture and history. To be everything an Adeptus Astartes should be. They are to be the pinnacle. Others should look and see the shining example standing on the hilltop. They are the aspirations and inspirations of the chapter made manifest. They are no more than any other space marine and no less. They are simply as they should be.
