Hello Sports fans!

I'm looking to create some alternative Imperial Assassins for my Deamon hunters army. Rather than modelling from scratch....I thought I would do some CONVERSHUN work! (note: I spelt conversion incorrectly on purpose! )

I was thinking of using Eldar Guardian bodies as a base becuase of the close fitting armour, and if painted right ( black for instance ) the armour could look like a close fitting body glove rather than plate "armour". Also the Eldar form is a little more graceful than most of GW human forms, and thus in keeping with the whole Assassin feel.

I thought I would then simply cut and shut heads from Imperial guards and Sister of battle for the actual Assassin characters. Add some grenades from the Space arine assualt troop sprue, a Sniper rifle from the Space Marine Scout Sniper set....etc etc!

What do you think, does this sound feasible for IA? Can you guys think of any better base figures to use for Assassins?

Starting from the top he uses other Imperial stuff, but the last two are
based on Eldar Guardians. Sorry for the poor pics.

ESDK also did a great series of assassins using Dork Eldar bodies, do a serach for his threads.

I could see a banshee body serving this purpose wonderfully, though unfortunately they're pewter.  Finding a good head is going to be tough...

Dark Eldar legs and Beastmen arms and bodies to be precise, Kid Kyoto. But Eldar guardians are in fact the more obvious choice as they combine musculature and techy bits right away. I can recommend skulls from the Chaos vehicle sprue or diverse WHFB standards for use as heads, just add some cables or optics etc. to show those are masks rather then actual skulls.

Thanks for the ideas guys! I like DarkChilds work, but they would be more suited to an Inquisitors warrior retinue ( IMHO ) then Assassins...but they are very cool conversions.

I did take a look at the Dark Eldar, I guess you'd have to be hell of a modeller to get those to work though. Becuase the initial pose is too exagerated in my opinion, a bit like the classic Rock star pose legs spread far, facing into the wind an all that! Then theres the spikes and pointy bits! Now the pointy bits would be good for a Death cultist....but I have the Imperial Assassins down as more, well, introvert....

I'll definately be useing the skulls for the heads as ESDK has suggested. I also want to use human heads to give the assassin some character......

Oh my god! That is what I'm talking about! THese look ideal for the Vindicare and Eversor Assassin. Perhaps even a male Callidus!!!

Any chance of a parts run down. It looks like he's used a Eldar figure as base??

I've also been looking at Necron figures......any play in that idea?

The only parts I'm aware of is the Guardian base.

Nice start but an assassin really needs more straps and pouches.

Just a suggestion... how about filing down Dark ELdar witches or Mandrakes. They have some nice poses that could be very assassin-ish.
