Game #2
So I find that I am moving on up to table #1. That is both good news, and bad news. The good news is that you are winning…the bad news is that if you do well, you will draw the best players for the rest of your games.
So I look down at the other tables, and the top tables were a murderer’s row of some of the best 40k players in the country. Greg Sparks (Inquisitor Malice) was on table #2, Mike and Darrian13 were on table #3, Marc Parker (Stormboy97) was on table #4, and Greg’s buddy that won best general at the LVGT was on table #5 etc. So I knew that if I win here, I will tangle with one of the heavy hitters.
My opponent was a nice guy named Jeff K. (Sazzlefrats?) from the bay area. He remembered me from when I won the 5 game Kubla Con RTT a couple of years ago in San Francisco. I played his friend Nikeforever22 in the last game and I was barely able to squeak out a win.
The Batrep!
His List:
Eldrad
10 Harlequins w/Shadowseer and Kisses
3 Jetbikes w/Shurikan Cannon
Warlock W/Spear and Destructor
3 Jetbikes w/Shurikan Cannon
Warlock W/Spear and Destructor
6 Fire Dragons
Wave Serpent w/Starcannon and Spirit Stones
Wraithlord w/Starcannon and Brightlance
Wraithlord w/Starcannon and Brightlance
Fire Prism w/Every Upgrade
A very unusual Eldar list to be sure, and very, very small one at that. But he was fast, and he massacred the last guy who might have taken him lightly, and I had to respect that.
Mission: Secure and Control
4 objective markers
All missions were Gamma
The Setup
The objectives are the bases with the palm fronds on them. They were scattered in a line, and the turn dice is on another.
I remember to scuttle forward this time. We had a bit of trouble figuring out what is frst, Eldrad's redeployment, or Scuttle/scout? The wording on both after all deployment, so we just diced off for it.
The set up was Fire Prism far back to the left, then Harlequins then a Wraithlord, then Eldrad and Jetbikes behind them. Waveserpent with Fire Dragons and Wraithlord and Bikes on the right.
With his re-deploy and speed, I thought it would just be best to head up the middle.
Turn #1
I won the dice roll and deferred to him (I do that a lot).
He moves out, and
JSJ with his shriken cannon on his jetbikes. His fire prism takes out a handful of Genestealers, and his wave serpent kills some as well. His wraithlord tries to kill my Zoanthrope, and does a wound.
I flew my Flyrant up and moved up just about everything else. As an Eldar player I know the Harlequins weakness is massed fire, so I unloaded on the harlequins with the Flyrant and I killed 7 of them.
My carnifex in the middle shoots off the main gun of the fire prism (Whew!). My walking hive tyrant begins shooting at the Wave Serpent and does nothing which will be a theme for him. My carnifex in the lower right (which you can't see) does a wound to the Wraithlord on the right.
Turn #2

His weaponless fire prism zooms behind cover all the way to the lower left corner. I knew that it would be a pain latter, since it is just an objective holder now. His bikes on the left shoot up my spinegaunts. Eldrad hiding behind the Wraithlord takes a wound from Perils of the Warp. He dumps his fire dragons out in the middle, and he found out the hard way that he can only has 4 within 12" of the Flyrant. It survives the shooting from them and the Wraithlord, and so he has to send in the clowns to finish it off. The Wave Serpent kills some Genestealers, and so do the Jetbikes on the right.
As you can see, I was running out of bugs in a hurry, and I hardly did anything to him yet.

On my turn I shot the spinegaunts at the Jetbikes on the left killing one, then they charged them! My Genestealers charge the remaining Harlequins, and they lose a some of them, but they kill the clowns (Clowns taste funny). The Ravenors and a chewed up solo Genestealer charge the Fire Dragons, killing the 4 in their zone, but the remaining 2 stay.
I shoot the Wave Serpent with the Hive Tyrant and whiff, but the carnifex is able to down 3 Jetbikes on the right. I was unable to charge the Wraithlord on the left with my genestealers because of a bad FoF roll, so I try to grab some cover.
Turn #3 No picture for the top of turn 3. He moves the last Jetbike Warlock on the right up to flame and shoot my Genestealers and kills only 2 out of 4. He moved up Eldrad and kills my solo Genestealer, but the Ravenor kills the last Fire Dragons.
This is where the tide turns in my favor.
I put a wound on the left Wraithlord with the Zoanthope. Then I charged it with the Genestealers, and we both do a wound. My Carnifex immobilized the Wave Serpent. My Genestealers kill the Wraithlord on the right, and they consolidate into the Jetbike.
The only bad new was that a fortuned Eldrad was chewing me up,
Turn #4

On his turn, not much to move or do. I kill his last Wraithlord, and the Jetbike.

Remember when I said that my Spinegaunts charged his Jetbikes several turns ago? If you look to the left, on the sheet of paper, you will see the Jetbikes and the Spinegaunts still duking in out in a no-holds-barred grudge match to the death!
I start to move closer to the objectives with my TMCs.
Everyone else piles into Eldrad who is making every save.
Turn 5
No pictures for turn #5 since the they went by really fast. I will sum it up by saying that Eldrad killed all of the Genestealers and Ravenor in assault. My spinegaunts in an upset victory killed the Jetbikes on the left. And I moved a canifex so I can get a shot at his stationary Fire Prism and missed. I thought he was waiting for the last turn to claim and objective with the Prism, but what had happened was that he forgot about it, and my shooting at it reminded him of it...oh well.
Turn 6

He only has 2 models left. Since I accidentally I reminded him to do what I thought he would do, and he flew the Fire Prism up to hold an objective.
I end up immobilizing his Fire Prism on the last turn with my Carnifex, and that was the game. For some reason I am good at killing Falcons and Fire Prisms, but I have a lot of trouble with Wave Serpents.
So I end up with 3 objectives to 0, and I win another massacre.
Jeff was a good guy, and fun to play , and I gave him max marks. He got unlucky several times, and he told me after the game that no one in the Bay area plays bugs, and he lacked the experience playing against them. The thing that stood out to him was the firepower that a flying tyrant can put out.
So with that I get to stay at table #1 and play none other than Greg "Inquisitor Malice" Sparks and his Infiltrating, Heavy Bolter Havoc shooting army of death!
Here is a teaser for you...I won the die roll to go first, and I deferred, and let him go first!
