Hey There, my name is Kris, I've been reading for a few months now, played 40k a few years ago then lost interest when I couldn't find anyone to play with. Anyway, I recently found a Necromunda crowd (for those of you that havent tried it, try it!) and decided I wasnt thrilled with the limited model selection of Necromunda and decided to make my own, here they are. (fluff not included) sorry for poor picture quality, only a 2 megapixel

nah, I liked making unique models and doing conversions, and also fluff-wise for tau and kroot to be in the underhive...not so much

kroot, stelthys, and pathfinders i would expect ahead of the main force as they act as scouts, these just look like they got lucky on the black market, or catchens who looted a fire warrior squad

Well I'm with uplifiting. Theres a lot of background that you can look into and develop for this idea of a farsight gang. When i saw the title I was very excited, and a little disapointed that it was human Gue vessa auxillaries. Think about it, the Water caste specialise in negotiation and trading, fluff is full of stories of water caste envoys who are much like Imperial Rouge Traders. Add into this say an Earth caste mechanic as your heavy, then some merc firewarriors from the far sight enclaves as gangers (those who have abandoned the rule of the greater good) you can then include Kroot conversions as Juves. theres a wealth of material and ideas for a Tau specific vagabond gang. Now onto the actual conversions. The main issue here is components that do not match biologically or in terms of proportion. For example you have a human ganger with a tau arm holding a pulse carbine and a muscle pumped up catachan arm. Firstly the tau arm has three fingers, then the two arms are so totally different (slim and muscle) that they just look odd together. The same goes for the arm with the Battlesuit arm and pulse cannon. This is way too large and looks out of place. If you want to stick with the human theme I would suggest using human arms and just adding tau rifles, carbines. do not include the Tau arms with them because its easier. I like the idea but I think you need to develop it a bit more. Have a look a previous golden demons. theres was one when someone converted a FW air caste pilot into a water caste envoy. I think the problem is at the moment they just look like Orlocks who raided a Tau shipwreck. Especially with those red headbands and the blue uniforms. The Juves for example has nothing at all that makes him look Tauish.

Bigger clearer pics would help too. I do like the concept and the idea of looted weapons works just as well as Farsight inductees.

I wanted to keep the human theme because it just made more sense that a group of gangers came across some weapons during a rare trade and became interested in where they came from. This might have prompted them to find out more about the tau and their philosophy. To have actual tau living in the underhive of hive city just doesn't make sense to me.
As far as scale, you have a great eye, its not really noticeable to me, but i see what youre saying. The crisis suit arm look with the heavy is my favorite piece, it acts (fluff-wise)as a "stabilizer", especially in a game with bionic arms and the like.

well you can find orks in the underhive, why not tau : /, why not add a farsight as your gang lader, as a religous dude the tau have sent to convert people, and his gang are people he has converted and given weapons . not sure what guns you can buy for your gangers that are like tau rifles though : /

because in the fluff for orcs theyve been around much longers and had time to spread across the entire galaxy?....it doesnt make sense for commander farsight to be hanging out in the underhive becuase there is absolutely no reason for him to be? and no realistic way for him to be?

I believe it was stated in some of the Specialist Games fluff over the years that the equipment for Necromunda Spyrers is Tau based.

It may have been, but that wouldnt make much sense. I read a sentence of fluff somewhere that said there was a link, but most fans thought it was slowed and just an attempt of GW to play up Tau.

I'm not too familiar with Necromunda, but didn't the Tau come quite a bit after Necromunda came out?

....I'm saying that when the background for the Spyders was made the Tau codex didn't exist and hence I doubt that there is any connection.

to be honest, i cant see our furture in the next 40, 000 years to be constant war, this be just a game. if you want to have a tau necromunda gang, do it, with whatever models you want. just because a set group of people in a society are regarded as hating all other aliens or whatever, doesnt meen there cant be exceptions .

You have clearly not read the fluff on Farsight. 1. He murdered the Ethereals that where with him, took his army and declared himself independent of the Tau Empire. 2. It is his belief that the Tau are the superior race, and the Tau should not consort with lesser beings. Hence the rule called Breakaway Faction, witch means that any army that takes Farsight cannot have Ethereals, Kroot, or Vespid.

Just to be sure, I pulled out my codex. none of that is remotely true, READ THE BOOK. Farsight was kicked out of the Tau Empire because he felt that engaging in close-combat for the greater good was not barbaric but nessesary, since he is no longer funded and fed by the empire that is why he cannot get units like ethereals, Kroot or Vespid and can only get minimal numbers of tanks. He didnt murder his Ethereals, they were killed in battle.

He didnt murder his Ethereals, they were killed in battle. Infact this is correct. In the first Tau Codex the implication was that Farsight killed the Ethereal, the cause of the death was described as mysterious. Second point also correct for sure in the first Codex, Farsight due to the nature of his breakaway faction included no common Tau Allies as it was against the greater good, also there was a resupply issue with being so far out in the field in the Damocles Gulf. Farsight left the empire as he felt betrayed when not supported whilst fighting the Orks during the damocles gulf campaign. He located the Dawn Blade on an atrifact world and the fluff suggests either chaotic or Necron influence that is making him a seperatist. Hence the fluff boxes by imperial adepts to the inquistion mentioning their concern about Farsight and the implications on the Tau Race. All of this is in the First Tau Codex and listed extensively. It is also mentioend vaguely in the new Tau codex, however the emphasis is more on Shadowsun. Yet even in the New codex they make reference to his betrayal and his excommunication (Shadowsun destroys his monument for example). also Tau links to Spyer gear were mentioned in Fanatic Magazine during the re release of the models and reprint of the rules. The main issue here is that you've described your gang as a farsight gang. If you didn't want to include these ideas in your force why mention it? You have posted here asking for comments and feedback, the community (many members) have replied with lots of character and background driven suggestions that can make a Tau farsight gang work in the Necromunda setting and you have ignored them. If you are being so arrogant why bother to post here at all? As to your rude comment to Dr Dalek... I suggest you read your books, or at least listen to peoples suggestions when they try to develop your hobby.
