I think I've broken Dakka? Preview works, but not the main post? What I said:

This has probably been posted way back on the old forum server, but I only found this by chance last week. As long as you state you own the original game, you can download and run a full Java version of Bloodbowl, for free, that allows you to play games, tournaments etc. online. The only omissions seem to be the much-maligned special play cards of third edition, everything else is in place.

I tried my first game before Christmas and it's superb. There's sections on setting it all up and you can even check out all the great teams and players that have set records etc. FUMBBL has hosted over 500,000 games in just 3 years (it says here). If nothing else, you can choose to spectate games in progress and see how it's played.

Out of interest, is it still necessary to own the original game, what with the rules being freely available online (and a web-server being no different from playing the game with proxies and a cardboard box) ?

You are asked to confirm that you do own the original game, for the relevant reasons of copyright etc. However, a poll I saw revealed that a fair number of keen FUMBBL players don't actually have it, so I don't think you're likely to ever be picked up on it.

I own the game and so have no issues with my conscience.
