This one:

I liked the Einhorn and Ravenor novels but GW's art books have been hit or miss for me.  The Sabat one was horrible, poorly written text, bad photoshopping and blurry pictures of forgeworld models passed off as battlefield shots.  The first 1 or 2 horus heresy books were great but the 3rd was repetative and the 4th was 1/2 reprints of the cards from the game.

So is this worth my $20?

1) Sabbat WOrlds was quite good, you are criticising the illustrations but it is not an art book. The pics merely add flavour, and they did it well. The text was acceptable. For a bad sourcebook check out the 13th Black Crusade.

2) I agree the 4th HH book was terrible. I bought the first 3, left the 4th, and bought the collected book for £20.

3) The =][= is also not an artbook, and is really quite terrible (save for the illustrations). Check here http://forum.blacklibrary.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=14674 and be sure to follow the link (and also the link in the linked thread).

Reviews are mixed.

So on a scale from 1 to 10 (where, let's say the first Horus Heresy book is 10)

How was the art?

How inspiring were the ideas?

How good is it?

Wanna know something sad, for me the shelf space and weight of the book (since I move every 2-3 years) is more important than the cost.

Some people try to sell stuff on amazon for hugely inflated prices.

Dont bother. Xenology is very very good, quite possibly the best book they have done besides the liber chaotica books, but definatly not worth $300, not even for the limited release book.

I havent bought the =][= book, but then again based on what I have seen of it, I am not missing out on much, IMO.
