Ok folks, I know that tau aren't the best at cc but I really really dislike the kroot models so I've decided to convert my own cc troops.

The theme for them is samuri or ninja.(I know there's a big difference between the 2), Its really the oriental style that I'm looking for, however I'm having problems sourcing decent wepons for them and I don't really want to have to cut up clan war miniatures.

Anyone have any ideas??

What about using either Eldar Banshee swords or the Dire Avenger Exarch power weapon (BWBbits has a good close up of this bit)? Not exactly oriental but looks the part.

Under the couch

The Catachan Heavy Weapons sprue includes 2 nice straight-bladed swords (one sword, one in a scabbard). With a little trimming, they look like a 40K-ised ninja-ish sword:

This one's the one in the scabbard, obviously, but the same trimming would work on the drawn sword.

Damn that was a nerdy comment.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

Maybe lego katanas would work for you? You can find them on sale occasionally on E-Bay, and I've used pirate sabers on marines before, so the scale should be close. Here's a lot of them selling soon: http://cgi.ebay.com/BUNCH-OF-LEGO-NINJA-KATANA-SWORDS-FLAGS-LEGOS_W0QQitemZ270161479211QQihZ017QQcategoryZ19001QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

What bits are used in this conversion.
Catachan torso and arms, Fire Warrior head and legs, and the aforementioned scabbarded sword from the Catachan Heavy sprue.

And a little Green Stuff, obviously. You could probably get around a bit of the greenstuffing by using High Elf or Skaven Plague Rat legs.

The sword can also be done fairly easily in plasticard, like this:

This one used a poweraxe grip, with the rest just made from a plasticard strip cut to length and with the edge shaved down for the blade, with a couple of pieces of plastic rod for the power cables... which you could just leave off for Tau.

I do quite like the look of those Lego swords as well, though...
