...or something close that I can convert.  I know there are plenty of lesser known companies that make more oddball stuff, but I'm still pretty new to scrounging for specialty bits.  Hoping one of you vets can help point me in the right direction.

There is a very cool mad Doc on this site for the game AE-WW2 Retro Sci Fi by Darkson Designs

store.aewwii.com/servlet/Categories

The doc could be painted up to look female (looks that way in my mind anyway but that could just be me) You could also try doing a conversion using on of the Female NCO's they have for the set.

Hope this helps

Ah yes. Gotta love it!

Looking around, I guess there's not much equal opportunity in the mad
scientist profession.

(The same can be said for the vixen line of work, however).

Hmmm. That mad doctor looks pretty good. Certainly the best I've seen so far.

Damn.  Turbo MMX beat me to it

I don't know whether you plan on using this model in a future or fantasy setting (there are scientists in fantasy!), so here are all the options I can think of:

I've got a few options for you from Dark Age Games, but they're all oversized.  40mm models as far as I can see (I've got a regular human male from them- called a Forsaken Contradiction, he's supposed to be a priest of some sort in my Guard army but ended up being taller then a space marine by a head).

A couple of those aren't very scientist like, but they are mad women   Remember- they're huge models- I'd ask around or buy it in store with a regular model in hand to check her scale against.

Then there are the beautiful Tannhauser figures:
<--  She's in a single blister pack thingy

This set is ordered all in one group.  Here's the site to get it from:  www.tannhauser-thegame.com/ixm_ixprapport.php

Here's the model from the above set that I thought would suit you:

This beauty could work as well:

Rackham makes a little lady who is mixing some guts together in a bowl:

Here she is painted:

That's courtesy of Coolminiornot:  www.coolminiornot.com/167938

Rackham also has a cool gal called Sasia Samaris:

In their background she's literally a mad scientist.

And these gals might work too:

Privateer Press has some great character models.  Here's one that might work:
www.privateerpress.com/WARMACHINE/gallery/swf.php

From Wyrd games we have a young lady who opened Pandora's Box:

This Ice Witch is a stretch, I'll admit that, but the pose is cool and the sculpt is very nice, so it's worth converting if you really like it:

That's all I could find.  I thought I had more stuff, but I guess not.

I still like the Alt. WWII mini best for your purposes, but maybe something above will inspire you.

I thought the infinity stuff was too high-tech to be mad scientist material. Of course scientists are there in far future settings too- so that model line is just as valid as my fantasy suggestions.

I love the link to the Tannhauser stuff, Drake. I had no idea I could order those unpainted.

Exalt!

Let me know if you pick them up- I'd like to see them beside some 40k minis for scale.

Some great recommendations. In response to the questions, I'm looking to use this model as a substitute for an inquisitor. My IG army is done up as a force absorbed into the Tau empire, so I use lots of Tau bits and such on the models. An inq would be a handy unit to have, but wouldn't really fit the army's fluff. However, a human scientist suddenly granted access to Tau technology, even in limited amounts, would create some interesting stuff. Mystics would be replaced with interns with various scanning devices, assassins would be modified drones or robotic henchmen, a familiar would be a souped-up drone, etc.

This isn't exactly what I had originally envisioned

but it could work assuming the scale is about the same:

Impressive pic siege Drake, and you reminded me that I still want to get my hands on Tannhauser. I didn't realize they hard started with expansion blisters yet too!

There is the forthcoming "Dirty Meg" from Privateer Press.

The model has a decidedly Rosie the Rivetter meets Girl Genius feel to it:

These are great links. Those Tannhauser minis are sweet, reminding me of Firefly. I am tempted to make a Girl Genius themed IG army. You know, somewhere in the top 10 list... Sentinels with Autocannons as the Baron's Clanks, Tech Priest Enginseer's, Servitors, maybe Merc Kroot as Jagermonsters. Maybe an Airship if the Apocalypse Flyer rules work out. Mmmm... gotta love 18th century steam punk!

Yes, there are female marines and my Sunhawks will explain it to you.
