I've used Litko plywood bases for years now for 15mm and 1/2400 naval. I also have a few of their 28mm buildings and various tokens. While I think they make great bases I'm afraid their plastic tokens are just uninspired, and of lower quality, compared to GF9 stuff. The buildings get the job done but are basically just wood boxes. If you want a basic structure to work from they are good but for a complete building I think they just pale compared to other stuff out there (including the great new plastic
GW building sets).
I am still a huge Space Hulk fan but the corridor set does not interest me at all. Again it is just sections of plywood you have to paint yourself and I don't think the hook connector is very well done either. I really don't understand the purpose of this set as you can do as good a job with a number of your own materials for far less. If the things came painted or something that would be different but they don't. You can find the original
40K corridor sets on the Web as PDFs (
GW even has some in larger scales on their site somewhere) and print them out on a color laser and glue them down to something and get a setup that looks better than the Litko set for almost no money.
The new towers are interesting but again will have zero detail so it just depends what you want.
By the way, if it is corridors you want you might want to take a look at the
GW Manufactorum set. If you have not seen the sprues it is basically a bunch of 2"x4" wall sections that look very Space Hulkish. I bought a handful of boxes to make the walls for the
AT-43 room map and realized it would be great for
SH. It is easy to make the sets up in basically long wall and 'L' sections that you can mix and match to create various corridor and room layouts and with a few more sets you can make multi-level structures and more. I think three or four boxes gave me all I needed for the
AT-43 map. It has worked great for
AT-43 and we're getting ready to do a
WH40K based
SH scenario with a similar setup (and we're also toying with the same idea for a Kill Team scenario). If anyone has not seen the building sets in person I would encourage you to check them out. They really are one of the better products
GW has made and if you get them from a discount store, like The Warstore, they are a reasonable deal as well.
