Hi!

Long, long time lurker (I remember when Migs started posting his work here, back in '99), but I haven't posted myself.
 It's time to change that.

Here are some links to pics of my Imperial Guard army.

My main inspiration was to build a mechanised heavy infantry with some real-world feel too it.
The camouflage scheme is loosely based on the Swedish M/90 splinter pattern. Although I only used three colours, it's supposed to be four.
The models are somewhat converted, but nothing really special and painted using Vallejo coulours over a black undercoat.

I hope you like them!

oh, and links..

Wow. Always great to see an entirely painted army. I LOVE the predator turret on the chimera. That is way sweet. Youcertainly have achieved a mor e"realistic" army look.

The only problem is that realism doesn't alwys translate to models well. I remember migsula writing about how odd camo was. To make it look good it can't actually blend into the base too much. If it does, you get a what looks like a large blob. Your camo work is VERY good but blends a little too well into the base.

The only other criticism I have, and this may be just a photo/light issue, is that there isn't enough highlighting on the black portions of the models. Again, that may just be a photo issue.

All told, I think this is  a lovely army. Great job.

I love the scheme and choise of colors! I think it could use a little more definition - but it's hard to tell from the pics. Bigger ones next time please. And a group shot would be great! Sometimes with earthy, natural schemes, it is good to "cheat" with weathering/bases to bring color and life to the models.

Welcome to posting. It's recently been very nice to see people start posting after long lurking.

It's definitely nice to see a full army ^_^;  That's something that hasn't been seen from my camp for quite some time.... >.>...

I absolutely love the way the pred turret looks on the chimera.  It MAKES it an Infantry Fighting Vehicle.  So simple, but oh so effective.  It gives it the distinct height that most IFV's suffer to gain the firepower they have.

I'd love to see some bigger, more well lit pictures for sure.

Oh and welcome to the posting game ^_-.  Hope to see you around heres more!

Hi!

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah, I know the pics are kinda crappy. But, they're supposed to be bigger, maybe flickr is cropping them.

@ender502. No highlighting on the black parts, wich are mostly the autocannon barrels. I find parkerized(?) finishes on weapons to be kind of dull and flat, that was what I wanted to achieve. The hellguns are dark green over chaos black. As the plastic forestock and other parts of a real-world  assault rifle are flat.

@migsula. Thanks for the kind words. Coming from you, they mean a lot! I'll see what I can do about that group pic.

@grey_death. I'm very happy with the way my Chimaeras look. The Pred. turret, Rhino headlights and box-mounted HK-missiles make them somewhat more realistic. But, I regret that I didn't shave off all those *"#¤¤* rivets and reworked the suspension and removed those crappy-looking lasguns.
Swedish IFV's (CV9040) has hatches over the transport compartment, wich the mounted squad can open and fire from during mounted combat.
That does make more sense to me than the firing-ports. And it wouild look much better

Marvellous to see a completed army - gives me that extra bit of motivation to complete mine!

The conversions are great - simple yet effective

Great work... Love the fact that your officer isn't just your standard screaming "follow me boys to death!" pose.

I like the scheme lots too. The tanks could "pop" a little more with a modest amount of drybrushed dust and highlights, but what you have you can be quite proud of.
