Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Techmarines and Enginseers are rarely seen. Techmarines get the occassional look in because of the miniture if nothing else but generally they are seen as gimics. The recernt IG thread denounced Engibnseers as worthless without much arguement to the contrary.

But now with Baneblades flying off the shelves is it now time to reassess the value of a techmarine/enginseer and tech servitors. Having to follow a Russ or Vindicator in the off chance you get to repair the gun is a farce. But it may get all too serious when a Baneblade starts moving again or regains the use of its big gun.

Do you think we will see a major upsurge in Enginseers with tech servitors as dedicated support for Baneblades and other super heavy vehicles? Will they become default for lists with Warmachine contingent; like holofalcons and dakkafexes are for their respective lists.

I don't think they'll ever become default, but they will be more common.

At 3,000 - 20,000 points there's less need to optimize every last point. They're great for super-heavies, but they also are useful elsewhere. An Enginseer is a reasonable investment for a battery of 10 Basilisks or a formation of 6 Land Raiders.

I certainly look forward to experimenting with them.

Looking at the Macharius' with their one main weapon, a Techpriest would be a good idea to be able to repair it. I may actually need to buy a Techmarine now with a harness and some servitors...

I certainly plan to have a techmarine or techpriest trailing after my Warhound Titan, swinging a censor full of incense or something. And fixing Vulcan Megabolters, of course!

Can techmarines really fix superheavies? I was under the impression that they could only fix marine vehicles.

There you go using your ?common sense? again.

That wont work. You have the same suck as with regular 40K Enginseers. If you have one enginseer serving a large force he will get nothing done. Remember you have to move to the tank (several turns wasted on movement if you have 10 to serve) and on the following turn repair it.

If you are in base to base howeveer you can repair immediately.

Therefore you have a team of techpriests and servitors behind each super heavy you possess, and one in a Chimera/Rhino following each titan or fast moving super heavy. A Baneblade doesnt need to move, a single gun super heavy like a Shadowsword you will want at the back to exploit its own range and to reduce incoming fire. As it doesnt move at all your enginseer and servitors should be lined up behind it thus if you lose the main gun to shooting you can repair it on a 2+ before you get to shoot it again.

Of course this means that canny opponents will shoot the servitor teams, particularly if they have a pizza plate striking the tank and can cover the rear fringe. But not all weapons behave thus, and those who reply on massed lascannon fire to drop super heavies may have a far harder time than first appreciated.

i used to take 1 tec marine in the old bloodangels codex stick him on a bike and run him with an attack bike squad for the signum

but the codex changed

now i can have a tec marine for every tank i have on the field (and not take up slots of the force orgnaisation chart)
personaly i loved the idea of a tec marine (posibly coz im a welder) and have always managed to squeeze one in somewhere, oh and another thing im loving about them is in the new bloodangels i can upgrade a servitor to a plasma cannon servitor for 10 pts (way cheeper than a dev squad)

has anyone thought about an Enginseer with his servitors in an arvis shuttle?

if used correctly he could be hard to kill and mobile

I've seen a techmarine and a bunch of servitors sat behind a Baneblade fixing it pretty much carry the win for a game of Apocalypse.
