Played last weekend 1500 points battle using my pure GK built against a Slaneesh double lash army.
Level gamma and mission to get units to the center of the table (occupied by a beautiful chaos undivided icon terrain piece)
My list
- GK Grand master plus 5 GKT's, 2 psycannons, psyhood (kept to deep-strike)
- 5 GK's + 2 psycannon
- 5 GK's + 2 psycannon
- GK Dreadnought - TLLC, DCCW
- GK Land Raider - extra armour
- GK Land Raider - extra armour
The Slaneesh list
- Slaneesh Greater Daemon with Lash
- Slaneesh Greater Daemon with Lash
- 3 Chaos Termis with combi-meltas (kept to deep-strike)
- 4 squads of noise marines with sonic blasters and blastmasters
- 2 chaos vindicator with demonic possession
- 1 tri-laser chaos predator
Won roll for first turn a gave it to my opponent, wanted last turn to go for the objetive
Slaneesh 1st Turn
- all 4 squads of noise marines closed on the objective, trying to get to its 4+ cover save.. Also advanced both vindicator and both daemons to close the range for lash and fore those demolisher cannons.
- shooting ineffectual. vindis out of range, nothing to lash for the daemons (my GK were loaded on the LR). The predator failed to pierce the closest LR armour
GK 1st Turn
- LR closed on the enemy and unloaded their GK cargo, giving them LOS cover against the vindis and most of the noise marines.
- shooting by the LR got one vindi destroyed and the second immobilised. The dready stunned the predator an concentrated psycannon fire put 2 wounds on one of the daemons
Slaneesh 2nd Turn
- 3 squads of noise marines occupied the objective (the fourth it closing on it) One daemon has no LOS at the GK and moved to get it around the LR. The second daemon (the one wounded) closed on the GK. The chaos termies arrived and went for the dready and deviated just outside optimum range for their combi-meltas
- 1st daemon lash attempt successful, bringing one of the GK squads in LOS and range of two units of noise marines. 2nd daemon lash attempt failed due to aegis power armour saving the day. The termies trained their meltas at the dready but failed to hurt it. Nose marine fire at the exposed GK killed 3 of them (binging them below half)
- 2nd daemon tried to charge the GK and failed (twice) the difficult terrain test needed due to rites of exorcism.
GK 2nd Turn
- LR proceeded to cover again the exposed GK. The other LR stays put to fire full effect at the predator. The dready close on the fist-less chaos termies (they sported power weapons instead) Gran Master and retinue arrived and went for the first daemon.
- Predator destroyed by 2 penetrating hits. The other LR shot at the 1st daemon putting a wound on him. A second wound was scored by the remaining psycannon of the reduced GK squad. Dready erased one of the termies. The other GK squad scored a third wound on the second daemon and readied themselves for a charge on him.
- GK charged the 2nd daemon, suffered 2 losses, and killed it outright with their nemesis S6 halberds and swords (5 normal wounds... 1 unsaved, and 3 justiciar power weapon wounds.. 2 unsaved). GK consolidated using again their LR to deny LOS to the noise marines. The dready charged the termies, killing just one and getting locked in combat with the other (that could not hurt him being fistless)
Slaneesh 3rd Turn
- Being now without any AT firepower, my opponent tried to get the remaining daemon to the dready. The 4 squads of noise marines that now occupied the objective adjusted to defend it while trying to avoid a possible charge by either the dready or my termies.
- Lash attempt nullified by grand master psyhood. Fire from two noise marines squads only accounts for 1 GKT termie killed. Other noise marines squads only have LOS to the LR’s.
- Dready kills last termie and consolidate closer to the objective.
GK 3rd Turn
- LR’s still covering GK closed on the objective (giving LOS for the psycannons to made a pruning attack at one noise marine squad. Dready get at the centrepiece, ready for shooting and charging another noise marine squad. Grand Master and retinue closed also on the objective, but were still out of charge range for another turn proceeded to cover again the exposed GK.
- LR’s Lasscannon and heavy bolter shots put an end to the daemon existence. The pruning killed the two noise marines in LOS (so the rest will have to move to shoot back) Dready killed a couple of noise marines, and GKT fire account for another couple.
- Dready charged and killed 2 more noise marine, getting locked with the 2 reaming.
Slaneesh 4th Turn
- Noise marines re-arranged themselves to GET LOS at the GK and to try to avoid the incoming charges. Canon-less Vindi tried to run down my termies but they are fearless and just stepped aside to let it pass
- Limited LOS fire from 2 noise marine only killed 2 GK. The third noise marine squad killed 1 GKT.
- Dready killed another noise marine and the last one is killed by being fearless and outnumbering wounds. Dready consolidate close to the reaming noise marines
GK 4th Turn
- LR and GK rearranged for a second pruning attack. GKT and dready moved for the final kill.
- Both LR combined their fire to blown away the weaponless vindicator. The pruning got rid of 3 chaos marines. GKT killed 2 and the dready account for one more
At this point my opponent t conceded because he only got one unit scoring (that will be charged by the dready) and I already have 5 scoring unit in range of the objective (3 of the un-killable due to his fist-less configuration)
Nice battle played against a nice opponent. Both lists were quite short in AT firepower, so the one with the firs lucky shoots got a lot of advantage. Also the GK tricks (aegis, rites) worked nicely. Lash plus demolisher canon is a fearful combination, but against mech forces combined with hoods and the like, is a lot less powerful.
