I am neither a photographer nor a good painter, but here's a few quick and dirty shots of what I've been working on lately.  I swear, I do play this game sometimes!

These are the first models I've really gotten into in about a year and I'm still getting back into the swing of things.  I just got some floor wax to help thin the paint out, so the next set of guys should look a little less lumpy.  This is about as good as my vision and motor control will let me paint at the moment, though.

This pic has Camera Flash(TM) to mess up the lighting.  I need a tripod.

And an ork for good measure:

Well, they are blue. They look nice for someone who isn't a painter or photographer. I really like the inverted tau symbol. It stands out very well.

Mmmm. Smurf blue. Are they UltraTau?

Actually it could be a nice color scheme. I haven't seen it done before.

I just wanted to do a blue army; being UltraTau never crossed my mind.

Partially I wanted to post this because we never see squads here in the Modelling section, usually just characters and vehicles.  I like seeing groups of guys.

I like the ork... reminds me of a squad of "Packers Fans" orks I did with yellow body paint.

I think we ought to encourage more table-top standard painting displays, and work on tweaking them a bit--many of us don't have the time to put into a 1500-apocalyptic size battleforce if it's done to golden daemon standard

Those arms look mighty muscular.
Did you swap the kit arms for Catachan arms?

Kind of anti-Tau... but still kinda cool.

Are they TAUminators?
Is one named TAUnan the Barbarian?
Are they here to PUMP ::claps:: us up?

LOL

I do kinda like it.

Nope, those are standard Tau arms.  It's the up-close photography that makes them look like that.  After extensively converting 60 or so Lost and the Damned mutants (which are now mostly useless), I'm shying away from conversions for a while.

If I could change only one thing it would be to tidy up the bases. Clean paint along the rim and no sand or basing materials hanging over them. It could really go a long way towards improving the overall look of the models. They look pretty good and the photos aren't too bad either for someone who says they can't paint or take photos ^_-.

Thanks for the advice!  I just tidied up the next 20 bases I'm doing, and I'll touch these up when I go back to put squad markings on them.

Yes, the color scheme should look really nice for an entire Tau army. Tightening up the bases and some of the contrast lines (around the Tau symbol for example) will also keep the eye moving over the entire squad (army) instead of lingering on any flaws that might be there.

Hope you will post more pics of the army as it expands...
